M340i remote start not working

Hi all, I’m having an issue with the remote start. My m340i came equipped with the remote start option from factory. It always worked but randomly stopped working. I have catless downpipes on my car which I got installed recently so maybe that is why? I have a check engine light but was told it would go away after I get a tune. I do recall it not working even before the downpipes. I read the owners manual so troubleshoot it but it seems I’m doing everything I can. It’s turned on in the settings. My vents are open. Anybody else have or had this issue and know how to resolve it? I would take it in for service but if they find out I have a check engine and downpipes my warranty is voided. Thanks

I'd hazard a guess that remote start won't operate while there's a check engine warning as the car thinks there's a problem, I'd get that looked at first.

Probably this. Or are you low on fuel? A lot of remote systems won't work when your gas light is on.

If you have your fob in the same pocket as any other electronics, it wont work.

The car responds with the flashes and makes a sound as if the car is dead. And won’t remote start.

The stock M340i exhaust sounds fine, why would you want to go with catless downpipes anyways. Sounds like this ones on you if this started after the install. Looks like you going to have to take it to the dealership.

Humm cat less down pipes and a tune. Sounds like voided warranty?

It needs to be about 25% louder.

Remote start for my 330i also stopped working after oil change and was updated to Nov/2019 update. On the APP, after pressing "start engine" and loads for a short while, it would say that the engine is running, but the car is still off and do nothing.

The car has to be locked and the doors and windows closed I believe and no check engine light.

There is an option under climate control in idrive to “allow engine to start” for climate preconditioning. Make sure the option is checked and it should start working again. Mine got deactivated automatically by the last software update. I had the same issue you’re describing until I reactivated again.

Yes. Thank u for the suggestion. I did try that. Everything is toggled on for the remote start option.

I thought I went in to check that box when I found that it wasn't working, and remembered it was checked. Until I checked it again last night and came up unchecked, after checking it, it worked.

So yes, updating the system will uncheck that box.
