Your biased...

Brazil's first goal of the tournament, the one that he slipped in from an impossible angle. The second goal scored by the Aussies yesterday was pretty nice. The fabiano goal and the Donovan goal from the crazy angle were both really good goals as well. And then of course, as far as I am concerned, Donovan's goal in the 92nd minute of yesterday's game vs. Algeria.

I think the situation in which the goal was scored holds more water than the individual skill leading up to the goal. The best goal is a goal that wins you the match, whether it's ugly or pretty.

I agree that the goal yesterday by Donovan was great due to the circumstances but probably not the mosty "pretty" goal.

The two that come to my mind are the goal by Brazil from the impossible angle although I dont really think he tried to shoot it. My top goal so far is the first goal of the entire tournament, by South Africa on the break away down the left side.

YEAYAA
NETHERLANDS WON

anyone placin bets on netherlands is laughing all the way to the bank
Made a sweet $300 on it

I was going to bet on Ivory Coast vs North korea tonight, Ivory to win, but I got barely any sleep last night nervous about the Netherlands game so sitting this one out

Ivory Will Win
Switzerland will beat Honduras
Spain will likely beat chile, should be a close game
Brasil Portugal, close game, no pick

someone put some money on Ivory coast or switzerland to win

watching Brazil and Portugal. I know billions of soccer fans all over the world disagree with me, but this sport is in serious need of more scoring. They need to do SOMETHING....ANYTHING to increase scoring. Looks to be yet ANOTHER boring 90+ minute match tied at 0-0.

They are just such purists over there, but I think it would be good to extend the goal posts 6" on each side and perhaps a bit on the top. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I know that they do overseas.

I can see how it's a sport you have to have played to appreciate watching it without tons of scoring. This would be a big reason why it fails in the US.

what's sad is that I played on the high school soccer team each year and I also played indoor soccer afterwards for many years. It's one of those sports that defines the definition of "much more fun to play than watch".

The World Cup generally is more low scoring with teams being conservative unless they have to score a lot to win. So you just have to put up with it a bit and just enjoy the game in general and root for your country(s). If you want scoring you'll have to wait for the Leagues like EPL or Spanish Liga or German Bundesliga.

Also, there needs to be a clear winner in every match. None of this "draw" shit. I'm not a fan of penalty kicks because it doesn't represent which team it better. But one team needs to be declared the winner at the end of a match. A draw after 95 minutes of viewing is a total buzz kill and decreases the hype and anticipation going into the match.

I strongly disagree. Part of what makes the game so rewarding to watch is knowing that the team really worked for their goals, which makes each goal more intense and more special. For example, I find watching basketball incredibly dull because scoring happens every 10 seconds. There's nothing special or unique about each point scored, and I lose interest very quickly- "oh look they scored again...so what?". Compare that to, say, the US-Algeria game, which was among the most intense I've ever seen despite the fact that there was only one goal scored and not until the 91st minute.

I know what you mean Robin..

I really want to bet $600 on Netherlands to win but I'm not sure yet..
In saying that though, they lost to Paraguay 2 nil, they only drew with NEW ZEALAND, and they beat italy which sucks anyway 3-2

So personally I don't think they stand a chance, but given how difficult it was for Netherlands to score the second goal against Cameroon, and the stupid penalty cameroon got, "anything can happen" as they say...

I'll think more on it closer to the date..

it's funny cause a year ago I actually saw an article written about why Soccer isn't "big" in the US, and lack of goals was one of the defining reasons. I agree this is likely one of the key reasons, as seen by some of the comments here, but imo its absolutely stupid.

I NEVER watch basketball and it doesn't interest me in the slightest, especially the fact that you can have 80+ goals in one game to me it's just pointless

Soccer on the other hand for example you take USA vs Algeria, thats 90 minutes of just both teams agonizingly trying to score and then a score in the 91 minute thats awesome. That's like watching a movie with a happy ending.

But if the happy scenes are every 30 seconds it kills it......

Anyway different people have different opinions but frankly if you're upset that there arent enough goals or that the games a draw, you watched too many happy movies as a child and can't handle the real world
