Ali Baba Exhaust

Got my Ali Baba exhaust installed a couple weeks ago and just wanted to make a post in regards to it because holy shit it's amazing I really think more people should look into it as an option when looking for exhaust for these cars. I'm only gonna post on sound clip here since you have to upload it to Youtube and all that bs to upload a video here, but theres a couple more clips on my post in the m340i facebook group if you wanna see more.

For starters, before I had this current Ali Baba exhaust installed I had an AA axle back. The sound was good, not the loudest, but a good tone nevertheless. The AA system did have some extremely annoying drone that would occur at 1.5-2k rpms which is right where the car cruises at in comfort and eco, so for me it was basically sports plus manual shifting or deal with drone 24/7. The exhaust tips on the AA system were also a bit big for my liking and they also stuck out way more than I would've liked since there is this little metal brace in between the two tail pipes on the right side that prevents the tip from going in flush with the diffuser. On the Ali baba system there are two valves instead of the retained oem valve on the AA system which I assume is why the Ali system is so much quieter than the AA system was with the valves closed. The tips on the Ali system are also better sized and exactly what I was looking for size wise, plus they can be pushed all the way flush with the diffuser. Sound wise, the Ali system is a good bit louder than the AA system and also a lot more quiet than the AA system with the valves closed and not just quiet on idle either, you can rev the car with the valves closed on the Ali system and the car sounds basically stock even with a catless downpipe. I also love how the Ali system comes with a dedicated valve controller rather than being controlled by the drive mode selection, but thats a preference thing and other people might not like having the controller. The cost of the Ali system was also significantly cheaper than the AA system I had, for obvious reasons. The AA system I purchased for $18xx and the Ali system cost me $12xx, but most of that cost came from the shipping and taxes that come with buying something from China. The Ali system was $750 for the exhaust itself and the rest was shipping and taxes. The AA system was $1600 for the exhaust itself the rest was shipping and taxes. The only thing is that the Ali system took about a month to arrive due to it having to actually produced after I placed my order, they don't just have them made and ready to ship. All in all though I have absolutely zero complaints for the Ali system and am very satisfied with my purchase. If you don't mind a little wait, I highly recommend you check out the Ali system.

I’m sure it’s the same, but this one was from Jiangxi Boska Trading Co.

Where in California are you? I would be interested in hearing this exhaust in person. Do you have stock DP?

I read your review before I checked out the pics. I was not expecting that exhaust to be that high of quality. It looks great in the pics. Sound is very subjective and recordings don't do justice. For the price you paid that is a huge win!

Sounds incredible. I saw in another post you linked the seller. It looks like they are no longer selling on Alibaba. Are the other listings similar to the one you ordered?

Nice review brother!

As far as wiring the valves, how is it done? Do you connect to the existing harness or do you splice into something??

Not sure, before purchasing the exhaust the only complaint I was hearing was fitment might not be perfect so I offloaded that experience of installing to my go to shop.

Gotcha. I’ll have to take a look and see how they want us to run it. Hopefully nothing to complicated and maybe it can use the existing harness for power

Nice! Out of curiosity, and I'm sure you've probably answered this on the forums already, but did you tune it for the pops?

Your gonna put half the vendors out of business by buying from their supplier . Good for you for experimenting and finding some quality stuff. Beats going through some of the places that buy multiple units and mark them up. Looks like a well made system. The no drone is def. A plus

At the same time, it's not up to us to sacrifice ourselves for them lol, the most important thing for us is to save money if we can, and in Europe salespeople always say "check with the manufacturer in case of problems" ;=)
