Mid Feb delivery to dealer - wait for March Reg?

My G21 330e is due to arrive at the dealer during Feb.

With my heart I'd want to pick it up the following day.

With my head I'd ask the dealer to register it on 1st March to get the new plate.

What would you do?

P.

When i got mine this year, I had to register it in February (part of the agreed deal with the dealer). Doesn’t bother me. Private plate went on the day I picked it up.

The 'head' argument is that the car could be worth a grand or two less in a few years time, just for the sake of waiting a few weeks.

But if the dealer has given you a good deal then I guess that makes up for it.

My 330e is a company car built in August so the lease company made the dealer wait to get the 70 plate as it affects the residual.

It’s only 2 weeks, I’d wait.

It wont be a grand or two, £500 tops. The move to two plate changes a year has definitely softened the impact of the plate change on residuals.

If you are a serial changer then I would wait, but if you plan on keeping it 4 or 5 years then I dont think the value impact and how far it is in the future makes much difference and your decision may be swayed by the fuel consumption change, whether your old car is likely to need any money spending etc.

Having said that, I waited till start of month but more because I wanted a full month of road tax from it!

it wont make much of a difference in all honesty.

Because the papers of the vehicle will still say 70 reg , 2021 build.

some dealers will class your car as a 70/21 reg rather than a 70/20 reg

I’m pretty sure the GFMV doesn’t change either. So maybe it doesn’t effect the residual value as stated by some?
