g21 lights

Hey all,

I have a g21 with standard LED lights. In the main user menu under light it can be configured with continental driving I.e. beam setup to the left.

Had anyone tried this with any success??

Any help appreciated as I go to Germany Monday!!

Regards
Matt

I believe the handbook states it will work fine, with "reduced functionality" Whatever that means.

If they are adaptive LEDs then ‘reduced functionality’ is inactive cornering lights I believe? Also pretty sure HBA is deactivated as well?

Yup. Used in France. Just adjusts beams and didn't notice any loss of output

Brilliant thank you chaps.

I will check tonight parking the car against the garage. Oddly when I tried it before I noticed no difference. Will see what happens this time.

Kind regards

Matt

IIRC when you do it, you should notice the cut offs moving from one side to the other. But I always did it in the bowls of a ferry so might have my memory playing tricks.

When I tried it my car had done an update and it totally f*cker the thing up. I had no internet, no live traffic and BMW couldn’t dial into the car. I changed the beam pattern and saw no difference but I wonder if that’s why it was playing up. Will see today. Thanks for your help.

It was several years ago when I had an F32 435i and spent two weeks on the continent and don't seem to remember the cut off being present when the beam pattern was switched, maybe it was but like Charlie and can't actually remember.
Maybe the cut off is more dependent on the way the lens or glass is manufactured to create the light spread?

I wasn't aware of this feature so had to take a look. In ID8 it says it "only activates in countries where traffic drives on the other side of the road."

I wonder then if that suggests it relates to the GPS location of the car?

Yes. The button was greyed out. I took it to mean you can only enable it when GPS says you are in a country that drives on the wrong side. Duno what the menu looks like in ID7 but I bet the back end isn't that different.

I'll have a look at the menu in my ID7 when I get the chance and if I ever get my bloody car back on the road again!
