Jerky power delivery

This has probably come up, but I couldn't find it. Car is a G20 330e

I'm expecting this issue to possibly be related to the traction control, but whats I'm experiencing is when I put the foot down, there is a really jerky delivery like on/off/on/off which is really crappy.

Any ideas what the issues is and how to resolve?

Thanks in adv

If it's the traction control then you'll see the warning light on the dash?

But in the dry you shouldn't really be getting traction issues, even in xtraboost mode and flooring it...

Is it a new thing, or has the car always been like this?

Sounds like the throttle might need calibrating. Try this:

Push start/stop button without foot on the brake - don't start the car.
Press accelerator pedal all the way down for 5 seconds.
Press start/stop to turn off car.
Take your foot off of accelerator pedal.
Wait two minutes.
Start the car.

When I had a 330e, 70 plate, I never experienced this. It was smooth at take off even when flooring it so if the above doesn’t work you may need it checked.

Well, tried that and no idea if it worked as nothing came up or anything. Only that 'brake pedal down to start engine'...

So 'unbelievably' Sytner Harold Wood didnt connect up their ODB as they said they had when the car was in with them in 2021, so I had an independent mechanic do so during an MOT and low and behold I have a Valvetronic open circuit fault.

I'm now in hassling BMW UK as this should've been discovered whilst the vehicle was in warranty, so lets see...

Yeah I was gonna say from your OP it sounds like there is something more wrong than just calibration/traction.

Just FYI those calibration steps given earlier in the thread do not work with a 330e. Think it's only petrol/diesel models. Not sure what it is for the hybrid or even if it's a thing anymore. May be just older models.

So they did respond and Sytner HW did make contact asking me to come in.

So they plugged in the OBD and bizarrely couldnt find any fault pertaining to valvetronics. I also couldnt replicate the jerky delivery either, so I'm well confused.

One of the service managers did try and suggest that a jerky power delivery was indicative of 'e' models, but I refuse to believe that an on off throttle response is what BMW would allow off their assembly and said as much.

Either way I hopefully will be getting a resolution for my iDrive update and the lack of DAB radio thats subsequently plagued me recently.

Sytner did get me a cab to work which is definitely good service, so fair play them.
