I think the design of the new 4 series is beautiful minus the grille. I believe they can make the grille work they would have to play with the shapes and maybe separate them a little. Also it’s very different from what we are used to. My favorite bmw was the E90 and when bmw moved from the halo headlights I didn’t like the new design but over time I adjusted and now I like the new headlight design especially with the laser light option which reminds me of the halos. Back to the grille, there are plenty of cars that have massive grilles that most people like. Audi Lexus Merc (the new AMG 63’s) just to name a few. The grille is funny looking but with some adjustments they can make it work.

Probably because the gran coupe has four doors. Much easier for grocery shopping.

It's not a mistake that BMW only really photographs the 3/4 from the ground level. Taking a photo of the 3/4 from standing height is a terrible, terrible look for this car that makes it look like an Infiniti and emphasis the high ride height, sunken wheels, bulbous rear end, and disjointed styling as you flow from chrome grilles to the Hoffmeister-less rear quarter panel.
