330i making a weird high pitched whine
My 2019 330i has been making this odd high pitched sound on and off (sounds like an airplane turbine). Almost never happens on short trips, only seems to happen when the car has been running for some time. Also only happens while car is moving, never stationary. BMW checked the active vents and they are functioning as intended. They seemed stumped. Anyone have any clue about this?

So I did some testing with and I can for sure tell you the sound persisted with the aircon turned off and it persisted while putting the car in neutral (at speed). Also downshifting did not change anything, the sound seemed to stay at the same frequency as I downshifted.

Could be transmission fluid.. I've had a similar problem before, did the transmission flush and never heard it again.
Yours happens even at slow speeds which didn't for me, I only heard it while on the highway going 120kmh+. They say the transmission fluid is lifetime but when I flushed mine, it did not look that way, it's thick and dark.. I'm pretty sure when they put the oil in at 0km it's golden yellow. I thought it could've been my wheel bearings but after I got the flush done, it never came back. Definitely not the bearings. Maybe start there? |

My issue all of a sudden disappeared after I had all 4 tires replaced (last September). I’m assuming the wheels coming off and being put back on had a large part of this. Haven’t had the sound since. |
