So since the is as big as an e39, could we consider it the new defacto 6?

I'm actually more focused on the next generation interiors - the silver plastic bits have always been subpar imo. Even the 8-series has them.

Did BMW go and hire Lexus designers lol - this is HORRENDOUS, looks like RC350 with kidney grills replacing the Lexus Predator grill!

Front grill looks hideous. I know bmw has to copy audi and this is one way to do it, but it looks hideous. I am imagining it with usa license plate and it is nauseating

Its an artist rendering, essentially an educated guess at the design

Jesus man that's seriously hideous. Not just the fact that they're throwing out the traditional kidney shape, but on its own it's just a hideous design.

I need to find someone who can remold the front bumper
You would make tons of $$$
I truly hope the aftermarket responds promptly.

The F8X was as big or bigger than an E39 as well if I remember correctly. The E9X might have been too. I know it came up in discussion. I'm sure somebody will post measurements.

You're spot on, and THIS is the accurate render. I've been saying just look at this concept for the grill but everyone has been falling for the sensational and horrible renders Bimmerpost has been posting. Also the grills will curve at the top
as the spy pics show. The grills won't be as flat and upright as the Bimmerpost renders show.

I'll add you to the list. I love these zero chance statements made by members. Those will be the members that I poke at the most.
I did not made a statement,i just wrote my opinion...and if im wrong, than car will look ugly as hell...dont even think about poke, because i will stab.
If this render is true,Scott26 and all other insiders should talk with BMW...this is disappointing.

Is that insane grille informed by something or is it just a shot in the dark? It is awful.

At this stage BMW has plenty time to change that grill opening.

I work in manufacturing for automotive and customer constantly changing the prototype products.

I WISH they just drop the size... they can keep the shape just a little smaller

The i4 and 4 are derived from Vision iDynamics so you are looking at the ideas from the Vision iDynamics but interpreting therefore solving the issues to be productionised. So Vision iDynamics is very flat at the front which is not possible in regards to certain legislation so you have to raise the front to accommodate this, of course this is how the nose cone of the car becomes independent. As it addresses the impact, aerodynamics and engineering issues if not the aesthetic ones.
Sorry it is just so OTT. BMW detailing should be more elegant and resolved. Pandering to a certain market’s taste is not a recipe for success and might send loyal customers to other brands.

If the new 4 series and and the m3/m4 actually look like this count me out. Hideous in my opinion. Mind you I still can't see BMW doing this kind of design, considering all the negitive response I've seen.
