This is promising. Finally a nice looking BEV with better quality interior than most of the other models in this segment. I'm excited to drive one.

For the car sake, we are not stupid, why the designers insist on having an illusion of stupid looking exhaust pipe in the rear bumpers for an electric car?
It's electric. At some point we all will cherish it if you make it right. Electric car CAN be fun and good looking. You guys designed i8 10 years ago.

Eagerly awaiting details, could be a tough choice between an i4 M50 and G80/2. That 4-door shape suits the 4 really well imo, they should’ve made an M4 configured like that

Crazy that full release is till 1,5 month away.
Thank you for the link, so I'm really looking forward to the M50. This should be my next vehicle. If BMW didn't fool us, the i4 M50 will be the first M Performance model with M specific mirrors.
Further I'm very excited to see the interior trim with the curved display.
It's going to take more then M mirrors to get my attention

I am looking for performance and that includes the batteries abilities
This looks okay. Im getting X7 styling vibes from the side profile.

I am mostly concerned with the safety systems built around the battery tech of the i4. Read an article recently about a Tesla that burst into flames after it crashed. Supposedly, it took the fire department "several hours" to put out the fire. I can only assume this was due to the battery itself fueling the fire.

How different is this battery system from that of Tesla's? Has BMW published any crash test data or other technical information regarding the specifics of its battery technology and how it impacts the safety of the vehicle during a crash?

I don't plan on crashing, but if someone T-bones me in the middle of an intersection at relatively high speed, I want to know that my family isn't going to be instantly burned alive just because I chose to drive a BEV instead of an ICE vehicle.
Standard protocol with any fire department now is to cool the battery with water and be a chaperone of that car for probably at least 24 to 48 hours

Batteries don't like being crashed anymore than we do

I'm not sure there's much they can do about it but there's usually a support structure around the batteries which is one of the safety factors that's beneficial of owning an electric car

Let's hope they're optional like how they do it with i3

It doesn't look good on every color

I think E30-sized grille/kidneys would surely suffice to hold all the sensors needed.

Absolutely

There's no excuse for these ridiculous grills in the first place

Why does it have that ugly ass grille if it's fully electric

The size of the grill, be it for ICE or even more so for EV, is purely for design.
This is the new BMW "Face", their new design language, whether we like it or not.

Pity they didn't draw inspiration from the i8 for the face. The side profile and rear are good (although I could have done without the fake exhaust cutouts).

The i8 still looks futuristic, even today.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll get used to it.
Everyone wanted to burn Bangle at a stake.

Although, the E63 is still super ugly in my books only rivaled by the 5-series GT.

It's there actually

Better on this vs the new M4

Look closely at the window trim near the C-Pilar

People act like the i4 and 4 series grille is something new this week. The grille debuted on the i4 concept car a few years ago and was then first released in the new 4 series lineup last summer. It ain’t going away and it doesn’t make sense to believe that an LCI is going to change anytime soon as 4 series North American sales soared in the first quarter of 2021.

Side profile looks good. Overall quite 'over styled' which seems to be the theme these days with BMW.
