We did it when I sold cars at other brands, it sparks interest from people if it's a unique build or something, get someone calling about it or whatever and you say no that's sold but we can order one just like it.

If the order paper has your name on it as "customer" I wouldn't worry.

Agree with others. They're not actually going to sell it to anyone else. Both of my cars were listed for sale on the dealer's websites when they were in transit, it's just a way to show inventory. Since most consumers don't special order their cars, showing that the dealer has cars in inventory is a way to get people in the door.

If so, it is 100% normal but they won't sell it to anyone else. It has something to do with how their inventory is tracked and if they get calls about your car, they will try to sell / order potential customers something else.

I think almost all dealers do it. Like someone else said, when you ask for that particular car, they’ll say it’s already sold but that there are other similar cars to look at.

very normal. They have to check it into inventory so it can be officially sold. Most of the time the car will appear on their website close to arrival. This is a good thing, car manager is doing their job to prep for the sale. They wont sell the vehicle because it has your name including CA's name as priority 1 sold. No need to worry.

Smart way to bring in business if the build isn't typical or common... it'll lure potential buyers to come in and the dealer will try to get them something similar or order the same type of build for them.
It's all about the Benjamin's. |
