“Hey BMW!“

What’s the difference between saying Hey BMW and pressing the speech button on the steering wheel?

Pressing the button, however if you hold the mic button on the wheel it activates Siri or google assistant for connected phone

So Hey BMW doesn't give you any extra functionality over the button?

No difference which is why I disabled the cute but silly Hey BMW voice thingy. It activated too many times during normal talking.

Same with the cute but even sillier hand gestures.

The only hand gesture I use on a fairly regular basis is the one to shoo away things like navigation suggestions or traffic alerts!

It has 1 simple extra function
The passenger can give a voice command without having to reach over and hit the button while also having the speaking during voice output on
Nornally if you hit the microphone button its primarily only supposed to pick up sound from the drivers seat UNLESS speaking during voice output is NOT checked.
However saying hello BMW allows the passenger to give a command while the setting is still active.
Allowing them to change the AC or in some cars massage seats for their side only
Pretty neat the car can tell where the voice is coming from
