Any difference in rear brake size with this package?

Does it at least have some plastic shield, as M3/M4?

This is how EU version looks like - seems pretty well protected.

I think the brake sizes are the same as the M-Sport ones.

  • 19" wheels (required by larger front brake rotors) w/ Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires
  • Larger 374mm front rotors and calipers (compared to the standard 348mm)
  • Extra oil cooling radiator under the front bumper (similar to the F80 M3)
  • Mobility kit w/ air pump (since the tires are non-run-flat)
The brakes were a big surprise, but require that winter and track wheels must also be 19" since smaller wheels won't fit over the brakes just like with the M2 Competition. This also means the new M3 will not have optional 18" wheels anymore either.
Front M-Sport brakes are 374mm, and none Msport fronts are 348mm

You are confused. M340 comes standard with M sport brakes that are 348mm in diameter and fit 18 in h wheels

Optional coolong pack gives you larger 374 mm front rotors so the 18 inch wheels do not fit. Only 19 and up

You are right. I just went to build a new bmw that has 18" and if I want to get the cooling pkg, then I must get 19"s.

In other news, these brakes with stock pads held up just fine during a 2 day HPDE event, with plenty of pad left. Definitely better than the stock brakes in my old '16 340i: I had to replace both front and rear pads after 2 days on the same track. Impressive considering the added power of the M340i.

Nice work. Im afraid to take it since i can not find any track pads. But good to hear that it works on stock pads. They are different compound for sure in the cooling pack and require some heat on the street.

How did the car do in general on the track?

I don't see an oil cooler there, and if there was, it's not getting any airflow.

this one does not look like it has a cooling pack option we have in US.

Here is the radiator in US spec car, with self made cover

Hmmm...
The car has larger brakes - picture is made on BMW Experience event on the race track.

BTW, this is the picture from German G20 forum, from member who definitely has the M Technology package:

In case we need more pix, I just crawled under my US-spec M340i w/ ZTK. Looks exactly like llyam5's pix (w/o the DIY screen, of course).

No protection, other than the 1" rubber air dam in front that you can see in the other pix.

I'm not too worried. Above is with 10,000 miles on the car, including plenty of midwestern gravel roads. No signs of any impacts.

It's true that you can't combine 18" wheels and ZTK from the factory. But 18's can definitely fit.

Here's mine, M340i RWD w/ ZTK on its winter setup; BMW-recommended, dealer purchased & installed Pirelli Sottozero's on 18" 796M wheels.

Rotor and caliper clearance looks about the same as with the 792M's.

19" 792M's (front)

18" 796M (front)

Maybe you'd just need to watch the front size & offset? I noticed the front 796M's are 18x7.5 w/25mm offset, vs 792M 19x8 w/27mm. Rears are closer in specs; 18x8.5/40mm vs 19x8.5/40mm.

On the BMW website , "build your own", you have the option to select the 19" Non run flat performance tire, with style 792m, for $600. I am assuming you get the "standard" M Sport brake. Do you still get the Michelin PS4's? I really dont want the extra cooling, but do want the Michelins!

Yes. This is how I ordered. This configuration give you about $1200 in spare tire parts. (Spare, foam surrounds, tools, straps, and trunk liner) but, cuts a large amount of your space. The cooling kit removes the spare and gives you the non-spare liner. Had I known this, and the fact that 18” wheels clear the largest brakes that come with cooling package, I would have gotten the cooling package. Spent $300 out of pocket on the non-spare liner to have a usable trunk. Since mine is a lease, the spare sits in my basement.

side radiators?

I haven't had my M340i delivered yet, but if the M Technology trans cooler is one radiator sitting horizontally, are the two vertical radiators on either side of the front bumper standard on the 340? or only with Tech pack?

eg https://group1.imgix.net/used-vehicl...&auto=compress

Just watch out for the bigger rocks and avoid what I went through in my F80:

IMG_1982 by JMG, on Flickr

IMG_1976 by JMG, on Flickr

IMG_1970 by JMG, on Flickr

Also damaged a laundry list of other parts like the front bumper, front headlights (attached to bumper), steering rack, MPE, rear diff etc...

bill: <$30k

Probably would have broke $50k if I had let the engine starve itself of oil.

SO, why did they not ventilate the front rotors? Also, what do you have to spec to get the staggered wheels, tires?

What does that oil cooler weigh? Not the best place to add ANY weight hanging over the front wheels. Can't imagine these cars on the track.... so what is the point?

I don't know if this has already been mentioned but S33TA optioned vehicles also come with a 1000W cooling fan as opposed to 850W.

BMW has 3 type of brakes as follows:
Standard Brakes
M Sports Brakes
Performance Brakes

The M3 has the Performance brakes and these front brakes that come with the extra coolant pkg look like they maybe closer to the performance brakes.

This pkg is for track use. so yes imagine this car in the track , that is why I bought this car with this option. I even have taken my 2010 528xi and X5 to the track and had a blast with then, so I cant wait to see how this car will perform in the track.
