I fear that the grills are here to stay. Same for the M3/M4. The get the front 4 series fascia, so more ugliness across the line. SMH.

Looks like a diesel truck grill, not a sport sedan.
You made me

Your right. Totally a Diesel Truck Grille.

It's Absolutely terrible.

Do they like Diesel Trucks in China????

BMW kidneys has been allover the place in terms of dimensions and geometry. They’ve been tall, narrow wide, separated, connected etc. The F-series kidneys are not a template for how a BMW is a BMW. The original 3 the E21 had tall, narrow and connected grills as an example. Golfer or Beaver?

If other drivers didn't like seeing a BMW in their rearview mirror before, then wait 'til they see this git-da-f**k-outa-my-way snout coming up in their rearview.

Besides the horrendous pig face front end, what's going on with that hood? The recessed emblem and those canyons look terrible.

The lights and mirrors are way too thin and the back end is a boring, unattractive attempt at looking modern. That actually applies to this entire car.

BMW is forgetting heritage and trying way too hard to be new and "aesthetic."

Heads up BMW: people like BMWs BECAUSE THEY'RE BMWs!!

Ha. Nah it's a partnership but I do value her opinion and in this she's right.

The new concept is Rank as Fuck

I think Porsche's numbers are more a result of their offerings and price points than controversy over their designs. When they introduced a modestly priced four-seater in the Macan the sales were huge showing there is a large appetite for their design. The problem is previously if you wanted to spend less than 100k you only got two seats.

As far as their customer base, they may not like change, but Porsche also does a tremendous job listening to their core customers and giving them what they want which is why there is a GT3 touring and GT4 now.

True. The only thing they haven't been for the past 90+ years is GINORMOUS.

I was wondering the same thing - if this is indeed the new direction, and it appears to be so, then I guess we should expect something similar for the new M2.

The vertical vs. horizontal grilles don't bother me that much - it COULD look good and cool IF they were proportional to the rest of the car. Neither the X7 or the 4 concept grilles achieve proportionality with the rest of the car, which makes them look almost like they were tacked on at the end.

And because they're so huge, that's all your eyes tend to see...

Yes a valid point indeed. These fit the design in my opinion. Perhaps it's being accustomed to seeing them in such a way.

With the sleek design of the 4 concept I don't see the grills fitting the rest of the cars design cues.

It's so bad that BMW would came up with this concept on the 4 series coupe, for sure there were lots of buyers would flock to Audi & other German brands for their next vehicles. Or place the orders for current models.

Gonna reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh the production model and sit in it as well. I don't want to dislike it honestly but I'm already leaning toward looking at other vehicles.
