Man, the first aftermarket company that finds an appealing solution to this mess will profit more than BMW.

The close up straight on front shot from down low is one of the more commonly attached photo here and it’s probably the car’s least flattering angle. Luckily I’m not six inches tall but 6’1 so I’ll pretty much never see my car like that. This is more what I’ll see and to me this car looks far more interesting and exciting than my F80 does and ever did and this is not even the M4 concept.

Don’t get discouraged and deflated BMW, this is great.

LOL you do realize production version will look a LOT worse.
Wheel gap, smaller wheels, less aggressive bumpers but still the giant ugly GRILL.

Maybe but we aren’t debating the production version here since well we don’t have one to debate Some things will likely look less exciting while other things will likely look less offensive. Overall I’m optimistic.

But the 4 indicates a radical departure from the current 4er.
It will be more sportier in appearance and behaviour.
I am told that the forthcoming M4 provides more interesting elements to its Aeropacket.

So we are going to see a lot more emphasis on design across the entire BMW Group. I am extremely excited about the new MINI design especially its resurrected Rocketman idea. I reckon it's going to make people fall in love with MINI all over again.
Get ready for sales to go in toilet.
My dad just got new S560 as the 750i with new wacky grill was too obnoxious.

Luxury buyers are not stupid.

BMWs issues were not poor styling but poor driving dynamics / steering feel compared to their predecessors. This will surely set the brand back for years.

My nonenthusiast friend who has new X5 and 4series said he would never buy something so goofy.

Wakes to a start ... hmmm.. ? RADICAL? Yes.
If this leads to an aero packet that means LOWER COEFICCIENT OF DRAG, and MORE DOWNFORCE And it's time to go kick some butt racing ... .. I can be swayed ....

This looks like the concept car to me. I think the side intakes will be toned down quite significantly for the production car.

Totally with you here. Make the headlamps production size and this shrinks the intakes.

Those blocked off intakes look so 430.. make them air intakes and it's M4

Chop the kidney to about 5/8 of the front and add a bar for the front plate.. done.

I would rather have kidneys without slats than the Subaru mesh, KIA grille look that they have started with on the 3er. A distinct schnoz on the 6er ..like a shark nose ... oops 4er... ain't a bad thing at all.

I could have lived with the grilles actually, but every design cue here is to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

The Z4 and it's frog like front end was a give away that BMW was about to go full stupid; they have no design inspiration. And, behold.
Does this mean you'll be purchasing a Kia Stinger? Pics or bust!!!

Why not a Stinger? Seriously?

The Stinger suspension and dynamics are the result of Albert Biermann's team and the former BMW M-Division suspension engineers. Remember the team responsible for the E30 - E46 M3? They're at Kia now.

The Kia and the current Cadillacs drive, handle, and ride better than current BMW M-cars. Based on first hand experience. Seems to be the consensus of the automotive press, too.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Mine is that the current lineup has nothing other than the name in common with the cars that established the performance heritage of the marque.

Designs like this are symptoms, not the problem.
The stinger drives better than a modern m-car? The stinger isn't meant to compete with the m3/4. It has more in common with the 3 series or 4gc. I think it's slightly larger than the 3/4er.

BMW will be like.... let's just make an alternative front end and call it the "BMW classic appearance package" and charge $1000 for it.

There are alot of posts in this thread that comes across like this.

Very poor posts by what i would assume are enthusiasts of the brand and this is exactly why you don't take into consideration the enthusiasts when developing products. The wider market appeal is much more enticing that listening to a group of whiny 10 year olds on a forum who are most likely going to buy the car anyways so BMW still gets your money
Sorry but every person I've shown the pictures too (all are non-enthusiasts) laugh and say it must be a joke!

They've lost a customer here and it's too bad as I love my M2.
Same thing here. This car is doomed if it looks anything like this, no doubt
