you say that you went from 252 to 400+, and this is also true on BSRs website.
but, the 330e does not have 252 hp, so im not sure where you and they are getting these figures.
What i have been seing is 292hp (184 hp from the petrol engine and the rest from the electric)

so whats the deal.
and how will the gearbox, drivetrain and other parts keep up with this change?
My guess is that it's something to do with the B48B20B engine which is used in the 330i also and is 252bhp.

I saw one tuner believe the B48B20B engine is good up to 300bhp.

So 300bhp + 108bhp from the electric motor is 400+

ok so i will have the old engine
but, hey, i may be able to tune that with 50+ more HP as well
then, 250hp+105hp=350hp

not bad either

The 330i and 330e use the same B48B20B engine.

You don't just add them up. BMW puts the electric motor in the transmission in place of the torque converter. That uses up some of the HP. Other features eat up more.

I have seen some companies simply add them together. They are wrong and kudos to BMW for being honest about the HP (actually as most of you know, BMW sandbags its HP so it actually going the opposite direction). Now if only they would up the HP for me.

I live in Norway and I've also ordered one and is expecting it to arrive late march. I've used BSR on a couple of cars before, though with much more moderate increases of course. I've promised myself to not tune this one, but I know, by experience, that I only last a month before I do it anyway

With the amount of torque increase how will the drivetrain hold up?
Does anyone know which of the ZF 8HP gearboxes is in the 330e?

Is it possible to use PPT to set it back to original/tune it after the initial tuning is done?

Hi

Norway here aswell. I have one 2020 530E and the wife has a 2020 330E- i have talked to BSR and they do not have a PTT for these bmws.

I will tune mine now. But i will most likley use BootMod3. Then you can swap between maps easy.

Best Regards

Jarle

The car has 250 something hp constantly, but it can produce up to 292 hp for maximum of 10seconds if you use kickdown or sport+.
So saying the car has 252hp is about right.
Or so i've read from articles online.

I have an B20B too.

IMO just putting the OEM maps of the 330i engine would be more than Fantastic. Around 350 bhp combined is simply astonishing

Not sure that's true, what's the point of them advertising Xtraboost (which comes from the battery and is 50bhp on top of the 252) when the car only has 188bhp without the battery?

The car, before extra boost, is able to use both the ICE and electric motor. The extra boost gives it more than before. But in auto mode, the car is not just using 188 HP.

From Greencarcongress:

The plug-in hybrid system pools the abilities of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and output of 135 kW/184 hp with an electric motor which generates peak output of 83 kW/113 hp. Together, the two drive sources produce maximum system torque of 420 N·m (310 lb-ft).

A new feature—included as standard in the new BMW 330e Sedan—is XtraBoost. The driver can quickly bring XtraBoost into play by activating SPORT mode with the Driving Experience Control switch. A vigorous stamp on the accelerator unleashes an additional 30 kW/40 hp on top of the combined 185 kW/252 hp already generated by the combination of electric motor and combustion engine; XtraBoost keeps it on tap for up to 10 seconds.

The result is the signature powertrain character of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, comprising (for the first time in a hybrid model from BMW) incredibly sporty yet also precise accelerator response, and a specific shift program for the eight-speed Steptronic transmission including engine-braking downshifts.

Yes, so in hybrid mode which is the default mode of the car it outputs 252bhp (188bhp from ice and the rest from battery) the car never uses the 113bhp from the battery unless in xtraboost or it would drain the electric battery quite quickly, hence the 10 second limit.
The ICE only ever outputs a max of 188bhp, doesn't go past that with xtraboost, the electric engine is giving the extra power.

I have a F30 330e tuned to 350HP. Great car !

I ordered a 2020 G21 330e, but I'm afraid that 2020 models will have the B48B20A engine (350HP with a tune) and not the B48B20B(420HP with a tune).
Someone told me that BMW switched to B48B20A for 2020 MY 330e.

Could someone with a 2020 (production) 330e check is engine code ?

Thanks

I know it’s a little bit late but I hope I could still help you.

My 330e went to production in June 2020 and I’ve the B48B20B engine.

Jarle, did you do the tune? I'm also in Norway and I'm interested in knowing what you ended up doing and what kind of results you've got, if you don't mind sharing.

You don't simply add them together. Some car companies are doing that and it is misleading if not an outright misrepresentation. In BMWs and several other companies the electric motor is integrated into the automatic transmission and replaces the torque converter. Some of the electric power is going to run the transmission and some is being used for other purposes.

Yes...BMW does sandbag its HP numbers so the actual number is likely higher than advertised (BMWs often dyno at the wheel at about the same HP that they show at the engine). But one can't simply add the numbers together.
