Going for the 2nd years ST 28psi, Every summer weekend racing with friends, many track hours and not a single issue. Even left in the dust a 2019 Lamborghini aventator ( cool guy I know him from BIR he also has a vett with over 900whp) Maybe All the people talking about issues with N54 didnt have one, or they were unlucky just like with any other brand. First year all have issues.

I'd check with Alex at M Performace honestly. I'm not sure if he's able to work with cars in Germany, but it didn't require me to send anything in. All done remotely from my laptop and email/phone support from Alex. It's a great tune!
Curious is this with MPE or the standard exhaust? some nice burbles at the end of the video... were those there pre-downpipe? Great build!

Just the standard exhaust on there now. It had pops before, but the downpipe definitely makes them a lot more noticeable. Alex at Mission Performance set up a light burble tune for me a few days ago and they sound awesome now. It's not over the top IMO, but just enough to add some more character. I'll add some more videos soon with the new burble mode.

Does an AWD M340 put down different dyno numbers than an RWD?

Seems like a dyno for AWD vehicles would need to be more complex and have two sets of rollers then it adds the two numbers together?

Nailed it. Reminds me of when I had a B8.5 S4 and frequented those forums. Guys would throw everything but the kitchen sink on their performance mod list and $8K later finally boast that they can walk a F80 (the key requirement being it was stock, lol).

OP, great build. That color is badass

What are we discussing here exactly? A tuned turbo car will beat another stock turbo car? I remember when I had my 335i and couldn’t quite afford the e92 m3 yet, I was over the moon when my turbo 335i gapped an e92 m3- guess which car I’d rather own and have now though :0

Nevertheless this car is beaut and I’m not a huge fan of the new gen. Very tasteful mods, OP.

So I got a 2020 M340i as a loaner from the dealership whilst my F80 m3 was in servicing. I raced my mate's manual BM3 Stage 2 M4 running CSF top mount cooler, catless downpipes and akrapovic exhaust. My mate was running 295 Yokohoma AD08Rs which are very sticky tyres. He did a 2nd gear launch at around 3k rpm to minimise wheel spin.

On launch, I would destroy him and then on 1st to 2nd gear shift, I would lurch forward on his m4. On 2nd to 3rd gear shift, I would lurch forward a little bit. Then during 3rd gear pull, he would pull on me hard. By the time we are around 130kmh, he would pull ahead of me.

On a roll race, he would demolish me as if I am reversing backwards on him.

Nevertheless, a stage 2 M340i would destroy a equivalent stage 2 F8X until very high speeds that's when the F8X would reel it in.

Here in Germany if you want the front spoiler you need to buy the rear spoiler, otherwise they wont sell it to you. Because of the aero effect.
Not always true. Local dealership had no issues installing the front parts only since the impacts on aerodynamics are negligible. One service rep brought it up and the others laughed - it seems many of them do not follow the 'party line' and realize its a gimmick to sell parts.

Thanks! Is it the cat-less downpipe option? Do you have any pics of the rear?

There was a video a while back of a E46 M3 CSL going up against a new e90 335i which pretty much walked it.

I predict this will be the same story. Slight feeling of being left behind to progress. I love the F80 waiting for G80 Comp.

I can confirm this is BS and just a way for dealerships to force extra parts on people this way. I had exactly the same discussion with my M340 and BMW dealer in Dresden/Germany for weeks, where he kept on forcing extra M Parts on me, pretending it is legally required due to aerodynamics impact. I ended up reaching out to BMW M’s HQ for help and they confirmed it is BS and has no impact on cars traction. The parts that need to be installed in sets for safety are clearly marked on their website. All others can be installed standalone.

Yeah i have seen that video. Its more about stronger torque at a earlier rpm that wins races for RWD vs RWD as long as traction permits.

I figure if my mate's M4 was DCT, he would reel in the m340i quicker because of no boost lost during shifts and the lurching forward of the m340i in between shifts would not be as substantial, if even at all.

Nice car but US regulations don't do it justice :)

Those orange reflectors on the side and the orange bits in the headlight really ruin the look of the car. A pity US regulations are like that.

What makes it extra funny is that, at the same time, all red tail lights also make things less safe:

Funny country, the US... nice, but funny

Have you noticed any oil consumption on the m340i either before or after the stage2? There's a m340i near me reporting oil consumption issues on stock tune. 2 qts needed before first oil change at 10k. My z4 M40i is also doing the same thing as the m340i. Makes me hesitant to flash tune, unless you also experienced this before/after. Never had this on my m240i or x3 m40i so don't believe this to be normal of the B58
