M340 BMW Connected issue resolved!

My BMW Connected app was not working since last November. None of the features were working. Here is the fix my dealer made and now it is back working very well!

1. Make your cellphone erase and forget from idrive
2. Have your BMW bluetooth connection erased from your iphone
3.Reset idrive by holding push 30sec the sound volume
4. Close you app BMW Connect on your iphone
5. Start back the car and your iphone
6. Pair back your iphone with M340 by wifi and apple carplay
7. Open your BMW Connected app

How do you do step 1 and erase phone from iDrive? Is this necessary if you do not use CarPlay?

Mine is in french so I am not sure of the english menu but I would guess:
- COM
- mobile cellphone
- select your cellphone you want to delete
- you should have 3 choices: disconnect, connect or erase
- you shall choose « erase »

Got it.. totally forgot we need to delete it from the car too if it's paired lol.

Usually these tactics work for a little bit but the problem rears its head again after a period of time.

I had my dealer update to 11/2019 and the app seems to work much more reliably when communicating with the car now.

I always had a hard time using the app and it rarely updated even after doing the step outlined. The software was updated to 11/2019.41 (I think) when I took to the dealer and it has been working wonderfully since. Anyone facing issues with the app should go to a dealer and get the software updated. Easy fix.

I took delivery on 1/30. The app worked for about a week. Now, if I enter my vin on the app it tells me there was a problem processing my request and to try again later. Uninstalled app and deleted all my info from idrive. Re entered all my info and still nothing. If anyone has any ideas what I’m doing incorrectly, please let me know.

Ok well all I did was erase/remove my cell phone from iDrive, step 1 and then logged into the app accidentally prior to doing step 2 and it already fixed it.... so I don't know if just doing step 1 fixed it for me or if the app randomly started working today.

I'd think just deleting it from the car made it work...

Regardless.... I am happy it is working after 4 months now!

I took delivery of a 2019 330i xDrive in January 2020 and the Connected App didn’t work from day 1. Dealer said there was a national outage. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Held the radio button in for 30 seconds to reset iDrive. Deleted and added my iPhone 11 Pro a few times. Dealer wouldn’t update the iDrive software because the car didn’t say it was ready (?). I deleted the Connected App and forgot about it for 3 weeks. Reinstalled the Connected App last week and miraculously it works perfectly. Not sure if there really was an outage or if the various resets finally worked.

Make sure the dealer updates the iDrive software to 11/2019 on the vehicle. This is the only thing that has given my Connected App a reliable connection with my vehicle after 9 months of ownership.

You know, the dealer firmly resisted the upgrade for me. He said that they have to wait for the car to tell me that it's time, or it can do an over the air upgrade (maybe). I think he just didn't want to tie up a technician for what can take many hours.
