Tesla FSD does not work well in busy cities yet

Quote:
The training wheels may not be removed at Tesla for the time being, that much becomes clear in the video at the bottom of the page. At the beginning of this month, Tesla doubled the number of beta testers for their Full Self-Driving system. This means that certain Tesla drivers are allowed to work with test software that allows their car to drive completely independently. When FSD is activated, the hands can take off the wheel and the car tries to drive from A to B all on its own.

IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY YET
The driver (or rather passenger with a steering wheel in front of him) drives through the center of Oakland in America. Every time the driver intervenes, the data is sent to Tesla for analysis. It's not a relaxing ride. Often, FSD does not fully understand and requires intervention by the driver. Not surprising, because driving through traffic is of course a ridiculously complex issue for a computer. You may wonder if the system is far enough to be unleashed in the real world with a beta, because here and there it is quite dangerous.

TESLA FSD IS KIND TO CYCLISTS
The Tesla drives with extra space (certainly 1.5 meters) around cyclists and pedestrians, whereby the car sometimes prefers to cross a solid line rather than get too close to a vulnerable road user. A good thing, but because of this the car drives quite close to oncoming traffic. Furthermore, the car regularly takes the wrong lane and there is still a lot of doubt about the system. From 12 minutes in the video, the car has lost its thread and it goes wrong three times in a row.

NOT ALLOWED IN THE NETHERLANDS
It is interesting and impressive to see how the system works, but for now you do not have to expect self-driving cars here. At least not in the city. We do have the idea that FSD would have less trouble with the Dutch road network, since it is a bit more manageable than the streets of Oakland. Incidentally, it is not allowed to use the system here. For urban areas, Tesla FSD may be more of an option. Hopefully Tesla can take some big steps with all the data.

Very interesting. It actually does an ok job IMO, much better than I thought it would at least.
