I would advise against an aftermarket option. I did this to my M550d F11 and it messed up a lot in the electronics. While the OEM one is certainly more expensive, this is probably the only option to make it work correctly. If you choose an aftermarket version, the car doesn't "know" you have a tow hitch and will throw all sorts of errors and even if the aftermarket kit comes with electronics and coding it often doesn't work correctly. My F11 always went into the emergency program whenever I towed something, only after I retrofitted the original BMW tow hitch it worked flawlessly.
I paid 1500€ for the retrofit, for the G20 the cost should be similar. |

Should you wish to install the OEM towing hitch anyway I will leave you the required part numbers:
If you use these parts it will be like the one you can order on the car and the towing hitch is electrical. Parts will run you about 1500€ + installation. There is also another OEM towing hitch which is not electrical, that will be about 800€ in parts. If you want a good aftermarket solution (incl. vehicle specific electronics) that still will be >500€ for the parts for a manual towing hitch. I ahve not yet seen an electrical one. |
