Does it if the stereo is on or off.
Is that a continuous rattle. Because what I get is a randomly occurring, clicking sound from the driver's side tweeter, which cannot pinpoint the cause of it.

I'm late to this thread. Just got my M340i 2 days ago and heard the strange noise only in Sport+. I realized very quickly that is simply the exhaust crackling. I actually think it's cool

Possible. I just wanted to share some hope with folks who may think as I did that it is a rattle trap. At least mine, in the now 2300 miles I have driven, is not... YMMV.

I'm getting a noise from the passenger side... either the seat or the door - not sure.

I have also noticed a rattle that appears when I'm driving over 60 km/hr on bumpy roads from the front dashboard somewhere, is that where the speaker is?

Yes there's a speaker in the middle of the dash on the top. Had to show my dealer the link to the fix on the forum for them to figure it out.

Ditto, but I'm betting on the seat. With 1100 miles, I haven't had enough miles with/without passenger on rough roads to figure it out, but I don't think I have heard it with someone in the seat.

Maybe it's coming from the sunroof. My sunroof rattles crazy.

My only rattle was from the passenger side seatbelt. It drove me crazy for a few hours while I tried to figure out where it was coming from (funnily enough, it sounded like it came from the rear passenger area or from under the driver seat). I got rid of all of the water bottles and stuff in all the doorcards and it still rattled a bit when I went over speed bumps or potholes. Finally figured out it was the front passenger seatbelt that was making the sound since my wife had unhooked hers and the buckle was angled to hit the B pillar plastic trim making it rattle. Readjusted it and my car has been silent ever since. No sunroof rattles either. So yes. It’s a pretty solid car.

I have more of a creaking sound coming from the sunroof rather than a rattle.

Hello! I Had the trunk noise, and I Apply PTFC (Teflon Based) grease, because the silicone one after a few days make the noise again, and it seems more durable.

I ve bought from Japan a PTFC tape with silicone adhesive like some of you have posted. I will tell u if it works when it arrives.

Thank you so much for this topic.

I was actually on here looking for any updates on a legit fix for this. It drives me nuts.

I can tell that it is the black plastic rim piece vibrating against the rear deck piece, but it is hard to even get my hand back there much less apply teflon tape or anything else. Has anybody successfully remove the rear deck piece to work on it? I see some plastic pins when I lower the rear seats, but I don't feel like breaking anything.

Is there a functional purpose to this plastic rim and the gap? Does air ventilation come through there? I don't want to cram a towel back there if it would inhibit air flow.

Hi, I've been reading this thread. Collected my car yesterday and already hear some noise at the rear (less than 100km).

Struggling to find the source, and I don't quite get it how the trunk can make the noise with rubber when it's intact and closed?

It's sad for a newly bought car, just wondering any bro has successfully resolved it. I've noticed some placed some adhesive - does it really work? Appreciate your comments.

* Initially I thought it's my suspension making the noises, and been trying to bounce on the seats but no noise

Mine isn't with the trunk, but the rear deck under the rear window...from inside the cabin. If you take your hand and tap on that panel piece behind the headrests, you can here the vibration of the plastic lip piece.

I ended up rolling up a small towel and cramming it under to absorb the vibration. Not glamorous, but it works and you can't see the towel.

Still surprises me how these things get through QC.

Thanks bro. If you don't mind do you have any pictures of how you do it? I'll probably try it out as well.

Also, have you tried going to the dealer and get it fixed, since it's still under warranty?Cheers

Hard to get a picture back there, but if you get in the back seat and reach your hand back, you will feel a decent sized opening. I just rolled up a small face towel and stuck it under that gap and tapped on the rear deck panel until the vibration noise went away.

I'd def take it to the dealer if I had the time. I may just mention it at my next service appointment.

I just started to notice this exact same sound from my sunroof. When I open the sunroof the sound seems to go away. I think it may have to due with the wind deflector rubbing against the sunroof glass. Need to do more testing to see if anything can fix it.

I also notice a whooshing sound on the driver side window when going highway speed. Didn't notice it until recently so I'm not sure if it's something wrong.
