19" wheels on M340i in Ohio?

Hey guys, I had some comfort issues in a sensatec M340i but found that the vernasca leather cleared that all up. I am looking for a car now but the problem is it seems like all the 19" wheel cars are specced with leather, and 18" wheel cars specced with sensatec.

I didn't find the 19" wheel w/ all season RFT to be too harsh, it was fine. However as winter comes around there will be a lot more potholes and these tires could really be an issue. It seems from other threads that a lot of people don't like the 19s and think 18s ride much better. Thoughts?

Order with 18's. Interestingly enough, I went to the dealership on Saturday and was told that there was not one M340 in the States that had the 18 inch rims even on order currently.

discounts on custom orders are not nearly as good though. the differnce is big enough that it might be cheaper at that point to buy one off the lot and buy a second set of 18" wheels

My car is pretty loaded and I made sure to order 18"s and I am super glad I did.
Ride quality is awesome and the fact that I can get non-rfts sealed the deal for me.

ThatKrazyPolak, not sure what your dealership is talking about. There are plenty of cars with 18s.

Here is one at my local dealership (they have at leaset 2 cars with 18s on the lot)

that looks like a very nicely specced car. unfortunately can't find any like that near me. wonder what it would cost to ship the car. probably almost as much as a second set of rims..

Not correct. I ordered my car and still received almost 15% off MSRP. Took delivery 8/30.

First of all they don't look "horrible", 17's would look horrible. Second of all given the fact that not all roads in the US are perfect sometimes function must take precedence over form.

We're not all willing to pay $1500 for tire insurance or buy a German car just to impress our trust fund neighbors and forgo common sense.

That's MY opinion. You don't have to agree. It's not about the size. It is about the design. Someone got #triggered. LOL!

PM me the dealer? I haven’t been offered more than 11% off anywhere. Maybe that’s because it’s a lease though.

Yeah, it’s not that the 18s look bad, it’s just that the M792s look so dang good. I’d rather have 18s, but I don’t think I could pass on the M792s.

My deal was $4500 BMW money & $4500 Dealer Customer loyalty. I purchased my car.

Ah. That makes more sense. I’ve always seen “discount” or “% off MSRP” used to mean the dealer discount before incentives, so I thought you meant the dealer discounted your custom order 15% before incentives.

ls3c6, have you had a car with 19s in the winter here before? My current car has 17s and I just think the 19s might be atrocious over our potholes especially with the RFTs

They kinda do until you see them in person. They remind me of the E46 18" wheels. I actually have gotten many compliments on the wheels.

I usually order the biggest wheel tire combo for my non daily drivers and might still order a set of 794's for summer time if I find a good deal.

As stated above, it is all about convenience (at least for me), this car is nothing but a leased daily driver that will deal with Seattle's dark pothole filled roads and the cost of owner ship for wheels and tires will be close to null during lease + my sanity while folks with fancy wheels will be dealing with bent rims, tire cost, winter set up blah blah blah..... Been there, done that and super happy with my decision this time around.

Dealer will work with you on shipping arrangements for sure and depending on where exactly you are located, costs can be reasonable.

Last year I shipped 2 cars to WA. One from PA and one from FL on a private enclosed truck door to door service. PA was $1600 and FL car was $1200.

Since this is a new car, your local dealer can even do a trade. You have options......just inquire.

Ohio

Those shipping costs are pretty close to just getting a new set of rims and tires

You’d think SOMEONE in the area would have an 18” wheels car with leather interior but they all seem to fall into one or the other category, they are either 19 with leather or 18 with sensatec. I’ve looked at every dealer within a 500 mile radius and found exactly zero cars with 18 wheels, leather and premium. It’s maddening. I have no idea why everyone wants to drive on 19 inch runflats in the winter on our roads lol.

I liked the 18" E46 wheels, as well as the 18" E9X and F8X wheels. I'll reiterate, it isn't/wasn't about the size despite that particular member attempting to bite my head off about while engaging in an unnecessary diatribe. I just think the design is poor and comes off cheap [to me], but I think the same about many of BMW's current wheel designs. I'm glad that you like them though. That's what matters, and to that I say, "Cheers!"

If I were you, I would just get a car with the 19's and be done with it. It is just a matter of time we will start seeing new take off wheels on the for sale section. Some folks just order the base wheels and replace them immediately with much nicer wheels.

I loved the M340i but I want a car that I can trust in the winter to get me from point A to point B and our roads can get pretty bad. My current car as 17" wheels and non RFT tires and I haven't had an issue insofar even after hitting some pretty big potholes, but all of my reading on these forums has led me to believe that 19" wheels ESPECIALLY with runflats will be very prone to damage.

I don't know if it would be fun to drive the car around always being paranoid about potholes and getting angry at the city for being so slow to fix them.

What's hiliarious to me is I even searched through dealership websites in Chicago, Detroit... Places with HORRENDOUS roads and the deal is the same... 18s come with Sensatec and 19s come with leather. God only knows who is order all of these or who at BMW set the guidelines to order cars that way (because it's clearly not a coincidence that they come that way) but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.
