I took the shelf, spare tire and holder out of the trunk and started swearing at BMW in the garage lol. I already called and asked the parts department to order me a proper bottom to my trunk. With the spare in place you can not fit a grocery bag. Not sure WTF they were thinking, but the car drives so well I have to give them a pass. I'll post some photos tomorrow. |

I think so man, just monitor it. Heard it can get annoying. Also I think there may be a software update (will let other current owners confirm). PS - beer run sounds tasty! |

There's no software update that fixes the dimming issue. BMW won't even acknowledge that there's an issue, let alone do anything about it. I've been testing out tinting (on my 5th tint) and the only thing that helps is to not go too dark but more importantly go with a pure dyed film (no carbon, carbon hybrids, ceramic, etc).

In CT we have a brewery just over the line in Massachusetts called Tree House Brewing. Freaking awesome beer. It's a perfect hour and a half ride, lol.

The car *begged* you to drive irresponsibly. I would never let the kids drive it alone. I remember how I drove at 16, 18 and 20 lol. The M340 is just as fast, but does not antagonize you to drive like an ass. Last edited by NewM3driver; 03-21-2020 at 07:42 PM.. |

I have the 19s (18s now in winter) and just freaking love my M3 (ok, not the color - I wanted YOUR color - but my dealer strongly encouraged me to take what I could find since they were stopping production - he was wrong, they made the car for 9 more months...) My point is, I love my car and I can putter to work 0-40-0, or I can co crazy and it seems to be fine either way. I do think the 340 would be tempting, but man, I need my manual trans

The M340 does not give up much at all in the performance department and it is just SO smooth and comfortable. There is non of the lurching and jerking that came with the M3. The B58 engine is awesome. The ZF transmission perfectly tuned. I understand the actual M3 appeals to many. It is a great car if that is what you are looking for. I agree that the 18 and 19 inch wheels are better in terms of looks and ride quality. Let me put my Helmut on.... I am not at all a fan of the digital dash. Give me a nice quality set of real old fashioned round gauges any day. |

The 19s on the M3 with adaptive are really magic. Quote:
You do keep saying lurching and jerking - my M3 exhibits none of that, so I'm really curious where that is coming from (like I said, I was under the impression you had the DCT). I can't stand that dash - my dealer (very close friend of mine) keeps telling me it is the best thing since sliced bread.

I have driven manuals since I was 15 years old. At 58, I've had a LOT of practice.
If you had the M in sport plus on occasion when engaging 1st gear the car would start to buck uncontrollably.... and the only way out of the spiral was to either floor it or throw in the clutch. There are many threads on here about it. It happened most often while pulling out of a side road or driveway. Even after driving the car for three years it would happen on occasion. |
