Thanks! I sold my M340i for a 2019 RS5 and then I sold the 2019 for a 2022. Pretty much the same thoughts as before though. Closer to an M3 in terms of feeling a bit more special and performance oriented, but less hard edge vs the M3. To me it's a nice balance if you were coming from any of the lite versions (S, M Performance, C43) but want a more compliant daily driver vs the M3 or C63. Great for what I'm looking for right now.

Finally back from the detailing shop. They did a fantastic job and tucked every edge of the ppf (can't even tell it's there). Xpel ceramic tint in 20%, full front end Xpel paint protection film (bumper, hood, lights, fenders, mirrors, side skirts, all the black bits), and full ceramic coating inside and out, and calipers/wheels. Unfortunately stupid winter wheels ruin the look but what can you do.

Thanks! It's a good model year being close to the end of its life cycle, because it feels much improved over my 2019 RS5. Hopefully this one sticks around for a few years, as I'd like to see what the B10 generation RS5 will be like (most likely coming in 2025 and should have some variant of the current Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid motor).

A few pics from today...thinking about what to get next! Either in addition or to replace. Hmm. Interested to see what the LCI G80 looks like (I see it's already getting the large screens but at least keeping the normal shifter).

I got everything done on this car by Auto Bath Elite (ABE) in Vaughan as they are the best in Ontario. However, in Milton I've previously always taken my cars to Elite Pro Car Care, and they have been fantastic.

Yes I did. The M3 is for sure the more capable in terms of performance, but not by much (usable capable only comes when you go to the G80 xDrive). The RS5 is quite a bit more comfortable, and I wanted that in a daily driver. The M340i is an even better daily driver, but I'll sacrifice some to be in an "RS car". You can't go wrong with any of the choices though, it just comes down to personal preference (how much you value style, or performance, daily livability, and cost).

Was the M3 more stiff/bumpy in comfort than the m340i in sport? More road noise or no vs m340i? Better or worse turbo lag and low rev torque?
It's ok if you didn't test but just in case you did, that would be good to know! |

Low down torque goes to the M340i 100%. If you are just putting around town, it almost feels faster than the M3. But once you start getting into it, you quickly realize how much faster the M3 is vs the M340i. Honestly I really like the RS5 because it takes some of the best characteristics of both and makes for a great, very fast daily driver. My opinion of course.

thanks it sounds like if i got an M3 Touring I'm getting a completely different car.
what they need is a car with electric turbo so there is no lag and plenty of pull low down! |

Yes it would be quite a bit different. The low down torque isn't terrible on the M3, it's just when you compare how much faster it is once the turbos spool. The M340i with the B58 makes its peak torque so low (1800 rpm if I remember correctly).

Thanks! I do like them, especially for winter wheels. I've thought about buying the same set only in 20's (those are 19's), for summer use.

not sure why this thread is showing at the top but hey, thought I'd say i found the perfect car on the planet
it's the M550i with the rear wheel steer and active anti roll bars I call it the poor man's Rolls Royce Unfortunately it's made me dislike the M340i ... but I know it's first world issues, will take what I get given. |
