G20 Oil Filter

Could someone please give me a link to a oil filter replacement for the m340i I’ve been looking around but most reviews I see on the filters I found are they don’t fit. Would appreciate it big time

I have never bought an oil filter for a bmw……is all else fails hit the spares counter in your dealership…….no doubt they will supply and let you know how many organs you need to sell to fund it

Garage List
I used this site when shopping for the oil filter for the car. Came in a Genuine BMW Parts box. Local dealership wanted $35

I think it's the same. I've used this twice with no issues. Looks exactly like the one that came with the car as well

OT but do you guys only use official BMW oil? Or do you use Castrol/Mobil bought from auto stores (obviously with correct ratings and stuff)?

There aren't too many LL17FE 0w20 oils out there, or does Castrol/Mobil have LL17FE?

I read somewhere that the Castrol ones are LL17FE or something? That they just don't label it like that anymore because they have to pay for it and aren't bothered to. I could be wrong though.

TIS only lists a few approved LL17FE(non readily available in US), I don't know if there is an updated list somewhere else.

Castrol can claim to be LL17FE, but if it does not show on the label, then I won't trust the claim.

Gotcha

I've only needed to refill twice. Both times, I had to use like half a bottle or so before it showed oil level to be normal again. I used Castrol I found locally since the closest dealer is more than an hour away. I got oil changed done after the fill up.
I guess I'll buy official BMW oil from the dealership.

BMW says LL01 and LL01FE are "technically suitable engine oils" for B46(while LL17FE is recommended).

So if your Castrol shows LL01/LL01FE approvals then it will be OK to use esp. for top off.

Yup. The one I got was LL01 IIRC. I remember reading somewhere that both worked fine. I used it only for top ups and got full oil changes done a few thousand miles later.
