Mudflaps Anyone?

All of my previous cars (Honda/Acura) had mudflaps routinely installed by the dealer. There don't appear to be any OEM mudflaps for M340i, but some folks have installed aftermarket flaps. Is there any significant benefit?

Splash guards

Hi,

Yes, made a big difference for me. I used Tommy’s Garage.

I just installed the TLG mud flaps and the fitment is great. I got them because the front part of my M-performance side skirts are getting beat to hell from road debris. My tires seem to pick up everything and throw it all back.

Chill, dude. I already saw those older threads and wanted more current feedback from the G20 crowd.

Because there's been a seismic update to how mudflaps work?

No. Because those other threads are mostly about where to get them and how to install them. I started this thread for more information about why people add them and any pros and cons.

I got a set for $35 from ebay a couple of months ago. The fit was good (considering the 340 were installed on 440). Looks (subjectively) fairly good on the car. Certainly, they will not protect completely from mud driving in the rain, but they provide about an inch of protection protruding outside of the car body. No signs of rock chips on the car sides, so far...

If interested, search ebay for "Genuine OEM Splash Guards Mud Flaps Fits 19 20 BMW 3 Series M Sport G20 Sedan"

Even though I commented on the older referenced threads above, let me address why I got them. Having installed them on my current BMW & my previous one, the fitted really do cut down kicking up road funk & rocks onto your car, plain & simple

Man thanks for clarifying what mud flaps are used for and why people add them. I'm sure the OP can now get some rest.

I'm so happy to have provided an opportunity for the trolls to post useless, snarky comments.

I was actually complimenting you for the insight on a fairly useless original post...

If you find this thread useless, you can always find another sandbox to troll in. I'm aware that this is not a particularly profound topic. I posted because this is the first car I've had without mudflaps, and based on the photos people post, BMW dealers don't seem to be adding them. I'm just curious why some folks are happy without them and some are glad they added them. I've gotten some useful answers along with the inevitable troll posts.

I posted this photo in one of the other mud flap threads of the TLG flaps on my car. They're mud flaps. Functionality doesn't change because it's a BMW.

Although, exclusively to BMW, you can unlock an additional 15 HP if you put M stripes on them. /s

I certainly hope not. I was genuinely trying to answer OP's question. I figured the photo would've sold them on how well they work.

Your post and photo were one of the few helpful ones in this thread. I appreciate it.

It is always nice to have new perspectives as who knows what little difference in model years can bring.
