Cool **Need advise on Point&Shoot Cameras. Too many choises but which is the best one?

Hi there,

I need a new camera and was checking some stores the other day.. So far I am very confused with the features they have. Since i dont have too much technical knowladge, I need your helps...

Let me explain what I need first:

Nice image quality (just like everybody) even at low light
Wide angle
Some features that you can play with colors and have fun.
To use at least 2-3 years or more.

I can spend upto $350 and so far I checked Sony TX7 and TX1 models which are the smallest i found with good featrues...

Awaiting your feedbacks and all information is greatly appriciated...

I dont know much about them, but the nikon coolpix with the really far zoom seem really nice when i played with them. They are the ones that look like a mini dslr not the pocket sized ones.

for point & shoot i'll go with a Canon S90

  • The pocketable PowerShot S90 gives powerful everyday shooting. Shoot quickly with a lens control ring and get superior low-light performance with a high-sensitivity 10.0 MP CCD and f/2.0 lens.
  • A high-sensitivity CCD sensor gives outstanding image quality in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Even images taken at high ISOs show exceptionally low noise levels and a wide dynamic range.
  • A bright f/2.0 aperture allows exceptional versatility, capturing low-light images and fast-moving subjects at higher shutter speeds. A wide angle of 28mm lets you put more in the frame, while Canon's optical IS reduces blur caused by camera shake.

Anything that Canon makes is great. SD4000 was just released if you're interested in that! Get the white limited edition on the Canon site

I have a 4-5 year old Canon S60 that I still use and takes amazing pictures. I wanted to upgrade to something smaller so I got the Sony DSC-W290, but I have not been impressed with the picture quality. Part of the problem is that it doesn't have an AV or TV mode like my old S60 has and the auto mode isn't very good. I don't know if the TX-7 has those same shortcomings though. If the S90 is anything like the S60, you will not be disappointed.
