So what country are we all thinking for that G81 building? It'll be kind of like that M-Town commercial BMW ran recently.
If I ever moved to europe it would have to be somewhere like Luxembourg. Real estate is still cheap, and their tax structure is one of the few in Europe that isnt serious income rape. Plus, europe is a hot target for terrorism right now, but who the fucks gonna waste the time to attack little old Luxembourg? nobody.

I'm also pretty sure there would be enough money within the group to completely control the city we bought in, If not the whole country

We could literally change the name of the city to M TOWN. and strip away any car related regulations

I am all for BMW introducing more choice for consumers, awd, rwd, 6mt, sedan, wagon, coupe, Gran coupe... whatever....

That said.. this article looks like nonsense, they reference a folding hardtop for the next gen 4 series when clearly it is going back to a soft top. Numerous spy shots and insider info have confirmed that to be the case. I can't imagine if they swung and missed on something so obvious they would have gotten this right

The f31s are kind of small. Now that the get is the size of an e34 that would mean that they are bringing a 5 series wagon to the US. They haven't done that in 7 years. Volvo or Audi are your choices, maybe Jaguar.

I know for a fact there are people driving X5Ms that never would have bought that car of they could have a wagon
But why would BMW want to cannibalise its own sales? Produce a 70k M3 touring so you won't buy that 100k X5M? Doesn't make sense.

Also where are all these M wagon buyers now? In an M3 or M4? Again why develop a car just to steal sales from yourself, it doesn't make sense.

Europe likes wagons or estates as we call them over here and BMW have tried and failed before to sell M estates.

The fact that the M4 coupe outsells the M3 saloon 4-1 tells you where the market for mid sized fast BMWs is at and I don't see anything but a cannibalising effect with the M3 touring, hence they are bringing out the X3M X4M to compliment the X6M and X5M as that's were the volume is and they can steal sales from AMG.

would it cannabalize that many sales though? I know personally I would never buy an X5m. over 100k for a fucking truck sounds retarded to me. so when I get older and have kids, I wont be moving up to the x5m. if they havent made an M wagon, I will be going to a different brand. because theres a lot of things I would spend 120 or so grand on before an overpowered land boat

I’ve never quite understood the appeal. Is this for people who want to move stuff really quickly? The M3 has four doors so it’s practical for families already . Making it into a wagon makes it uglier, handle worse and less aerodynamic .

The development costs would be minimal, allowing BMW to justify launching a load-lugging M3 in European markets but not the US, where the estate isn't generally favoured by buyers. There is a reason Alpina makes their performance touring cars . BMW has their collective brain up and locked in this market segment

Already making a X3M, that is a better comparison.

Dog, grocery shopping, golf bags, running strollers, trips to the boat. Lots of reasons why a wagon is better than a sedan. Just helping why I would buy one...but to be honest. As I age, my back sucks, I also like the height of SUV's so Id probably buy a X3M for the wife over a M3 touring.

I saw this yesterday and was a bit skeptical since BMW has never built one before, despite generations of both the RS4 Avant and C55/C63 Estate.

Perhaps BMW indeed does plan to offer the M3 with AWD drivetrain for the first time this generation, and sees that as an opportunity to offer an M3 touring and muscle in on the RS4's market. Who knows.

As others have said above, either way, it won't be coming to the US since BMW does not plan to sell any touring models at all in the US anymore, never mind high performance ones.

We don't buy a 328iX with an auto. That's all we were offered with the F31 (and a diesel that may or may not have been trying to kill the earth.). The E91 was similarly handicapped.

If either had been available with the N55/B58 and a manual, I'd have bought one. Simple as that. I'd buy an M3 Wagon too, provided it had a manual. I have little interest in the sedan, and none in a coupe or GC.

All that stuff other than the dog fits in the trunk, no? When I baby sit my friends dog I fold the rear seats down and it works great.

Fuck. Just as the F80 got paid off.
BMWNA, if you are listing, green light this for production with a manual transmission option, and I'll be happy to have a car payment again.

I can't see it but hopefully wrong. What is more likely is that they produce the m340 in touring form and test the water. Assuming it's not too pricey compared to the s4, c43 etc then it will sell well in Europe.

My 340i touring was a great fast estate, especially with the tuning box. Practical (for its size), looks good, wasn't an SUV and handled well.

Lets hope the s58 lump addresses the exhaust pipe noise anyway as the b58 sounds good, current m3 sounds rubbish.
