It will be connected!!!! This is no longer a debate anymore.
That's what I think from looking at the photos, but if you have information that you want to share is welcome.
We've already seen official [leaked] photos of the grille (...and the rear bumper), received information from insiders, seen the concept front end, read BMW's statements, seen the two grilles through mesh on transport trucks, etc. The fact that there are two elongated mesh/slatted pieces hasn't been a debate for months now. We've moved past that phase of acceptance.
The AWD models are official or not?

Yes, even though the F80 is quite a stout and robust track car with acceptable weight it has grown large and diverted some from it’s original focus. It was mainly your 911 comparison I disagreed with. My wife and I test drove a 992 a few months back since it’s on our shortlist and while it is a car with far more character, quality and precision feel that undeniably seduces you on a different level I wouldn’t say it felt more sporty than my M3 other than the seating position and superior view out front. It certainly did not feel less luxurious, the F80 is a rather stark no nonsense place to be. And if I was to chose between them for a cross country GT car it would be the 992, it’s no more noisy or stiff than the M3.

For the track I’m honestly not sure which I would fair the best in.

A 992 is an outstanding car on its own, I don't think the M3 vs 992 is a fair comparison. For me, they are 2 different type of cars.

And as you say, the M3 each year grows bigger, I saw a 3 series the other day and looks like a 5 series, I hope BMW keep the weight of the car at least similar to the F80.

Do the headlights look huge to anyone else? Maybe it's an illusion with the cladding around it...but the shape of them looks pretty clear at this point.

It’s not fair of many reasons but to say that the M3 is more of a luxury car than the 911 and therefore people shouldn’t complain when it gets a slush box or weigh close to 4K lbs is IMO wrong. The M3 have had similar sporty/track intentions as a non GT 911 and it can be felt in a direct comparison throughout the generations.

Maybe you have it backwards: The M3 has always been a much sportier version of the 3 series, but it's the 3 series underneath that has changed a lot since the E30 and is now (due to customer demand in no big part) much more luxurious than it used to be and the M3 has to go with it, it's not a separate platform.

What I was trying to explain it that the M3, even is a 3 series, today, is a performance oriented 3 series. Is performance oriented but the amenities are not left behind on the M3. Believe me, I don't need a reverse camera or distance sensors or the speed shown on my front glass, but that's my opinion.

The car has performance written all over it, but is not similar to a 911 in sports car feeling, for comparison with what people like me likes. That was something you got on the E30 and E36 and the F80 doesn't have. Take for example the steering, the electric system makes the car feel numb on the steering wheel.

I know the M3 is a 3 series with steroids, but somethings that could be done, like shaving weight doesn't occur. And even on the CS 150 pounds less for me is not much saving.

I'm watching the G80/82. It's supposed to be "light" in a sense but I doubt the car weight less than the actual model.

Looks tail happy for an AWD car
Maybe RWD model?

Looks great in the frozen frame of the video clip. Low and wide. The compression going into what looks like the carousel helps I guess.

You can hear the automatic transmission, so it's probably in AWD Sport mode (or whatever they're calling it) sending most of the power to the rear.

I'm liking the proportions. Depending how that grill looks is still a deal killer for me though

I haven’t really kept up with the confirmed transmission options, is AT to be offered with AWD exclusively?

Well every year the new iteration essentially goes to the former size of it's bigger brother. So it might be old 6 series dimensions.

I swear, waiting to see what this car looks like is worse than waiting for Christmas. Or It's like getting ready a blind date. You hear she has a good heart but a face only a mother could love. Jk jk. Seriously though, I want to see the car already!

The red pre-production tail end leak was a G80.
