Heh. That didn't take long. What's with the camo? We already know what it looks like!

Its a US model. So you can see the US plate holder behind the German plate. You are all going to be screeching for days now? ...aren't you?

I'm liking it too. The silhouette looks great and those wheels look the business too. I want this car revealed already. I'm ready for something new.

I can't say I like I...just seems way too long, (Should have been an 8) I hear almost 150mm longer then the outgoing that already just looks way too long with no real stance.

Just hope they don't screw up the M2 size.

Not everyone is going to like the grills...and that's ok. Not everyone loved the F8x, so-much-so, that after owning one they went back to the previous gen. or left the brand altogether... which is also ok.

FWIW, I'm still reserving judgement until I see the full reveal and keeping an open mind. I don't hate—or love it—so far but we'll see. Still really excited for the reveal.

Is rear hip on G82 wider than standard 4 series?
It's kind of hard to tell from camo pic.

Anyway, I am looking to put down some deposit for G80 or G82 Competition when it gets revealed... time to get something new to replace my 2015 M3.

There's 5" of total difference between a G22 and an F32 (...part of that comes from an extra 2" of wheelbase, which translates to more interior room). How that translates in the flesh remains to be seen. I'm not writing a car off over something like that. The F3X was 6" longer than the E46.

Its a very long car, almost midsized in fact, dimensions are an inch or two off of a Mercedes E-Coupe.

Appreciate what you are saying as I also had the E46 and two E92...when the FXX came out I struggled with the size (length) so moved to the M2...just glad BMW offers all of us a choice in the M series.
My OG M2 will be replaced by the M2 Competition early next year when current lease is finished.

I, too, appreciate BMW's willingness to bring a car to the table for everybody. That is part of the reason I defend them so much. There's something for everybody in the line-up. The M2 is great, especially with the S55, but it's too small for my tastes. It's the perfect car for somebody who feels the M4 is too big. Both provide thrills.

I really don't like the G22 grille, but this M3/4 version is actually looking ok in these pictures. Probably won't be a deal breaker for me in about 18months when I replace my M340.

Taken the size of everything where a car travel over here size is not a functional or practical problem. As long as the car’s proportions look tidy in person and it behaves with similar agility as the F8X, it should since I think the wheel base is similar to the F8X and weight should be similar enough I don’t have a problem with it.

From videos featuring people as references and decent pictures as these I don’t expect the car to look too big in the way the 8 series does.

I liked what I saw from the start but this is shaping up better and better.

I'm not worried for whether it looks long (since it looks like anyways) but length is definitely an issue. Its one of the reasons I went M2 over M4. Even with the M2 not being lighter, the shorter wheelbase really helps the car dynamically and I already find the new G20 3er too big so this will be even worse (for me at least). Hopefully they won't pull an 8-series and design a massive car with a cramped interior. Luckily the M2 does still exist but I'm not sure why every single generation needs to keep growing, we've already surpassed old 5er in size.

We can try to look it up but I recall a note that the wheelbase will remain very similar to the F82, the main increase maybe all is in the rear overhang.

I think the reason the M3/M4 grill doesn't look as bad as the 4 series grill is because of the horizontal slats. It's exactly the same effect as wearing a vertically stripped shirt to look thinner, and a horizontally stripped shirt to look less thin. The vertical slats on the 4 series accentuate the "tall"-ness of the new grills, where as the horizontal slats seen here serve to partly mute the effect of the new grills.

They are shaped differently than the 4 Series grilles as well.
