Portimao Blue vs Tanzanite Blue II

I just ordered a new M340i in Portimao Blue, but Tanzanite Blue II is really growing on me. One of the reasons why I am considering switching is because I know there will be a ton of Portimao Blue G20s on the road. What color do you prefer?

I already have enough from the Portimao blue. Tanzanite will never be boring at all!

Depends. If you live in a sunny location, Tanzanite will be a gorgeous colour. If not, and you want a bright blue, Portimao might be a better choice.

Personally, I'd go for Tanzanite again. I love it, even though there's not a lot of sun going on where I live.

Tanzanite is a really nice color, especially when it's clean and shiny. But with just a bit a dirt, a cloudy sky, and it becomes another dark blue. Really nothing special imo. I pushed a friend to pay extra for Tanzanite on his M6 and we were both very disappointed when the car was delivered. As I say, nice but not that special.

Portimao is a much more interesting color imo. It's brighter, has a hint of purple and is a bit more showy. I like all that. But I acknowledge that Portimao could get very old very quickly. Like Estoril Blue did.

But if I was choosing between the two right now, I'd go with the more interesting Portimao.

Me too, is it the same as the individual option on F80/82's? Any pictures going around of them?

I from my Story/Rant post I ordered Tanzanite Blue II.

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1608285

Classic BMW individual colour, looks good in my opinion with the metallic flakes.

Portimao Blue will be everywhere and will be the signature colour this year for the release of the G20 3 Series. It is lighter shade of blue and dramatic. I personally wanted a BMW individual colour from F80 M3/F30 340 xdrive colour from the last generation. Darker blue..

I ordered TB II. I think the II is very minimally lighter and more blue than TB I which had a touch of violet and darker? Hard to tell from pics.

Having seen all of the colors in real life on the dealer lot in a sunny day I'll be getting a Portimao Blue later this year. TB II was a big let down (in my opinion only). Dravit Gray was surprisingly pretty boring as well.

Everyone sees colors in different ways. I had an Estoril Blue M235i that I thought was striking, in a similar way to Portimao Blue. But I now have a Dravit Gray M340 xdrive and I find the color way more interesting because it changes in every kind of light. I think Tanzanite is the same. These colors attract attention in a way that Estoril Blue never did.

They're both great colors, comes down to personal preference. I went with Portimao since my other car is a 4Runner which is already a similar dark blue to tanzanite.
I doubt there will be that many Portimao 3 series judging by how few estoril blue i see on the road. Being on the forums makes it seem more popular IMO.

Tanzanite Blue

I also thought long and hard over these two, but went with Tanzanite Blue

I have Tanzanite Blue (not sure what the II changes?) on my 2017 and love it; have had many, many compliments. It is not common and that is of value to me. Go with what you like the best; it is YOUR car! Enjoy whatever you get!

I like Portimao Blue better, it’s a more unique color that you don’t see that often on cars.

If I am going to pay $1500 for a different shade of blue / gray / white, I would much rather go all out and pay the full individual color up charge and get something that is really individual / unique (Dakar Yellow / Laguna Seca / Atlantis) in my case.

So Portimao it is for the 1st and I am sure the very last blue car I will every buy :-) It perfect for not so sunny Seattle!

We should snap a side by side photo when we get our rides, portimao and tanzanite. Mine should be here in August.
