I don't think I need more seat time. I drive a 340i, ZF8 in the new 330i isn't really any more responsive than that. I've also test driven two M340i which do not exhibit this behavior. Others here are observing the same issue. It occurs to me BMW could issue a software update to fix this.

Reading the manual. It appears that it can be initiated and deselected by use of the paddles. I will have to try this next time I am out, does seem also to have several preconditions to become active automatically.
If a simple pull on the left hand paddle prevents it operating but the transmission stays in auto then that does not seem too difficult. Be nice to be able to deselect it in comfort as an option. |

Think you might be out of context there. I find it occurs when slowing to a junction normal Uk road speeds are 30mph plus (traffic permitting) so am definitely in the window for it to be active. I have watched the rev counter drop to idle as you slow down so it is definitely active. As I volunteered on another thread it seems that the jerkiness occurs as you go to pick up the throttle, first it has to match back to gearbox speed and then I often find it changes down. Of course it doesn't know if you want to slow to a stop or accelerate away again. While it can know if you are approaching roundabout it can't know if there is traffic coming so you are going to stop or if it is clear and you are about to accelerate. It seems to assume your are going to stop.

Hello all.
I am a new member of bimmerpost.com. My 2020 BMW 330i xDrive was jerking at low speed. I found an information about jerking BMW. Document name is SIB 27 02 20. This is the document URL. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...76367-9999.pdf Refer to this document, jerking is not only happened G20 model. Actually i visited BMW service before i found this document , they said jerking is normal. After i found this document, I visited BMW service again and showed this document, they did service follow this documet. Jerking at low speed(when starting)is disapeared after this service. but very tiny jerking is not disapear when press break pedal(when braking).... i guess tiny break jerking is related regenerative braking. I hope this information help all jerking BMW owner. Last edited by ck210; 08-15-2021 at 04:00 AM.. |

I have a 21 330i rwd and I noticed it going up and down my 5 story parking garage when I first got the car, but after 1k miles its disappeared. I drive exclusively in sport mode, my theory is that its park of the transmission break in/ learning period.

I have this exact same issue. It happens when you are driving and the car slows down to say 12-16 mph which happens all the time in stop and go city traffic. You then tap the gas pedal to inch forward and it jerks. It's so bad that I have considered getting out of my brand new car. Trying to get used to it, but it's really annoying and not what a 50K car should be doing. Otherwise, the throttle response is overall good. Again though, this scenario happens constantly in everyday driving.

I like to keep it in manual in 2nd at slow/crawl speeds through the city, parking lots, etc. I had coded the start/stop to remain in the same setting (if it was off when I turn the car off, it would remain off when I turned the car back on again, rather than turning it off manually every time). Unfortunately the dealer cleared this after I picked my car back up from service. Still find it a bit jerky with or without the start/stop active.

Don't have this on my 330i. Smooth as butter transmission. Jerky only on low speeds on sport mode because that's expected, since it wants to be driven aggressively.
