M/S position is specifically selecting the transmission option. Typically if you configure sport for the drivetrain, it is not the same as the M/S position. M/S on the shifter, is a more sport influenced transmission program. There are charts which illustrate the differences for all modes and selections, for the F3x models, this may help you understand. Worth a search. |

Do you have a link for those chats please?
Also, would it be benefitial putting the shifter into m/s if sport mode already has been selected?

As noted in the chart, generally speaking, putting the shifter into DS moves the shift points to higher rpms than simply choosing the Sport setting on the Driving Experience button.
