If it follows the pattern of all other model ranges, (including the individual setting options), sport mode can be configured to your preferences, (Chassis/Drivetrain, or both), depending on options fitted.

M/S position is specifically selecting the transmission option.

Typically if you configure sport for the drivetrain, it is not the same as the M/S position. M/S on the shifter, is a more sport influenced transmission program.

There are charts which illustrate the differences for all modes and selections, for the F3x models, this may help you understand. Worth a search.

Thank you for the info and telling me about that chart for the f30 it really clears up what the modes and shifter postions does to the driving characteristics of the car.

Do you have a link for those chats please?

Also, would it be benefitial putting the shifter into m/s if sport mode already has been selected?

For all previous models, yes, M/S adds to the sport function. I know for my car, typically changes down another gear when M/S is selected using Sport mode.

Not my chart, was put together for the F30 by forum member 'DVC', I believe.

As noted in the chart, generally speaking, putting the shifter into DS moves the shift points to higher rpms than simply choosing the Sport setting on the Driving Experience button.
