Help with rim sizing!

Hey all! I’m a little confused about rim sizing and need some help for my 2020 m340. I ordered used oem 792M rims off of eBay, there were only 3 available so my plan was to order these and one more from another website. Shortly after ordering, I noticed the title said they were front rims sizing 19x8. Now I’m finding out that there are also rear rims that are sized 19x8.5. My question is do I order the 4th the same size as the fronts (19x8)? OR do I return the 3rd one and order 2 19x8.5 rears. Is it okay to order the 4th one as 19x8? Is there a difference between the 19x8 or 19x8.5 look and performance wise?

My personal opinion is I prefer the staggered look so I'd return one of the 8" rims and get two 8.5". There are benefits to having all the same size rim as you can rotate the wheels and potentially get more life out of the tires. Most important thing is that you like the look, or financially it makes sense to you. Good luck making up your mind.

Thank u. But from my understanding, doesn’t the tires give it the staggered look? Can’t I just get wider tires in the rear than the front? I don’t see how .5 on the rear rims makes a difference. Maybe a picture I can see that can help?

I made the mistake of getting the square setup with rft tires when I bought mine. My understanding is to get the staggered setup you need the rear wheels to fit wider tires like the 255/35r19 Michelin PS4S. Based on models sold with this setup, the rear wheels are sized 19x8.5. So my guess is that is the smallest wheel size that can accommodate 255's in the rear.

Front:
36 11 8 089 894
19x8 +27 offset

Rear:
36 11 8 089 895
19 x 8.5 +40 offset

The position of the wheel is technically the same position if we take into account of the 0.5" difference with a larger offset. 0.5" would be equivalent to 13cm.

However, 19x8.5 in the rear would utilize 255/35/19 tires, which would be aesthetically larger when looking at them.

I leased this time, so I'm planning on leaving the runflats on the car. If I had to pick any other tire I would have picked the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I've always changed from runflats because on larger rims the ride has been super rough. (Although my current runflats are's bad) The only catch is that our cars do not have a spare tire, I bought a the bmw mobility kit and that solution worked for me. You'll need to decide what is best for you.
