Yeah i mean, they could make anything show up on the screen I guess.
It's a blank slate, just need to leave room for all applicable info-without info overload.
Exactly. BMW prides themselves on their tech and iDrive, yet when it comes to customization they even lag behind JLR who's electronics to put nicely are pure s***. I would love something similar to the AMG gauges in the C43/63. Choice of center tech, normal analogue set, as well as different types of widgets.

Scott - honest question, what does "signed off" mean? Like the final approval to produce the car as is? Or approval to show its final form? Just curious what u mean specifically.

Like until it's signed off the car could effectively keep changing?

Agreed and nice led tach. but holy sh*t the framing of that cluster is unbelievably ugly and distracting.

Scott, I think this may have been mentioned... will the M4 S58-6MT paring version be at launch?

My take is that signed off means for final production aka the finished goods. Track testing i.e. R&D is two winter and two summer cycles. Software is still beimg calibrated with communication and data back to Munich. The BMW product road map is always 10 years out. Don't forget that marketing needs to be filmed/video produced months in advance prior to market reveal.

Do you know if 6MT will be available in all markets especially RHD? Or will it be USDM only like E60/63 and F10/13?

I also want to know this. If there’s one thing that will tempt me out of my CS, it’ll be a UK manual version.

I will not buy a ZF 8 speed. Rather just keep mine and add an e92 to the stable.

I noticed a few months ago that you couldn't spec an 6MT M4 any more on the UK website.

I think I could put up with no ventilated seats for the last 6MT BMW

In automotive, "signed off" means the engineers have signed off on the final design. All testing (safety, reliability, etc.) have met a minimum requirement to begin production. If launch will be in a few months, I wouldn't expect any significant changes in appearance. They're mostly working through small fitment/manufacturing issues at this point.

You are still seeing the car being tested in a manner of environments.
Each BMW goes through a strenuous testing cycle in order for the car to meet requirements before entering official production. However a car can be tweaked right up to its official market launch.

There are still (in hand) prototype drives scheduled for the media this summer.

I know that both M3 and M4 will continue to offer a manual transmission. Germany will have both to offer.
What I do not know is whether your specific market distributor will offer you this choice?

What I do not know is whether your specific market distributor will offer you this choice? Has your market made any commitment to honour the manual transmission in general?

I would expect that offering a manual would be still be expected across all global networks? Especially as Markus has stated that the manual would still be offered in these cars ?

I only speak for the German market. Any variation on the market would be proposed by your countries distribution network.

As per official statement. They did state officially that the M2,M3 and M4 will still be offered with manual transmission.

If your countries distribution network continue to offer the above and manually then I would estimate that yes you will see a manual for the next M3 and M4 models.

But I can only confirm for Germany.

Hard to believe it’s just over 2w left of May. The G22 reveal is getting very close if rumors of a June reveal will hold. With the M440 as template together with these spied cars the G82 renders should become very close to the real thing

Also, each BMW despite being a series or M has to be "signed off" by the respective BMW AG Vice President, such as chassis. I had the pleasure years ago of having the current BMW M Vice President as my instructor for 2 days training on the Ring. The 1st km is very important regarding the chassis as this straight away puts a lot of compression stress. My 2nd ring instructor 2 years ago was the former lead R&D engineer for the 1st two X5M/X6M generations.

All the test runs we are seeing now are various BMW AG management heads taking their turn behind the wheel prior to their department "signing off".

Another tibet as that any BMW AG employee who tests a prototype on the Ring has to be certified every 2 years based on their Ring time. Not all engineers can test on the Ring, as the 1st two stages are at the BMW Driving Academy outside of Munich.

Thanks Scott, I guess if RHD 6MT is available I can always import from UK or Japan if it isn't available in NZ. But if RHD 6MT isn't available....

Just saw a YouTube video about the 3.0 CSL Homage. Is BMW trying to emulate that car with the large grilles? If so, I could warm up to the new sizes but still feel they could've/should've done better.

Yes - I'd be willing to bet that 90% of people on this forum would jump at that design. There are a few who are fully brainwashed into the "you'll get used to whatever our BMW overlords think will sell the most" mentality, but that CSL hommage makes me *want one* - in the same way that every 10-y-o kid wants a Lamborghini.
