Correct

That's definitely not BMW ///M Form Language

I like the orange render earlier in the thread better.

That's my re-render of the front of Auto Bild's render giving it a more traditional lower M bumper.

I'm waiting for a call from Ind to get this into production. I'm showing the frameless here because it will be easier to produce. I guy can dream, right?
Already have patent for this one. Lol

I have not seen the M2 proposals but all I can suggest is that when you look at the 4 Coupe to the M4 you can still have a slim intake underneath the grille with the 4. But the M has the grille down to the front spoiler.
The 4 takes its historic update from the E9 cars. Whereas the 2 will takes its from the 2002. Although the 2 kidney grille is not as prominent and large as it is on the 4. But uses the tall and thinner in terms of width ideas to update and give it a classic appearance.

It has the same visual donkey punch as an Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrofoglio. Only Alfa Romeo and BMW can get away with a front end that prominently features it's heart or twin kidney shaped Grilles.
Personally I love it. I love how they have done something entirely new with the Aerodynamics Packet now that they have the larger kidney Grilles.

X2 M35i = X2 20is
530i = 520i
540i = 530i
M550i = M544i (or M545i rounded up)
You overlook the fact that, in most of the world, there is already an X2 20i and 520i today. They use the B48*20M1 while 30i models use the B48*20O1, and M35i models use the B48A20T1. So you’d actually need another letter in the name for the middle model. While that’s certainly easy to add, I don’t think the resulting naming scheme would end up being better for consumers. In fact, I think it might create more confusion.

"Donkey Punch"? Right. To the customers...

- 1. Alfa has no sharp lines, nor ultra sharp angles like the ones presented by you in here. Compare the mirrors, front bumper lines, arches. At least they are coherent and follow the same sinuous flowing design everywhere.

- 2. I personally don't like AT ALL the Alfa design as I find it uninspiring and ugly. I also find that design already dated.

- 3. No, Alfa and BMW will never "get away" with that design. It is a forced design, a lack of inspiration, a scream of blink because your BMW design team is out of ideas. Change the team, Kia does it better than you do.

- 4. Pretty sad to see BMW looking outside the fence. You should be able to pull your own original design. Remember E30?

- 5. Since Alfa inspired you, I really hope you will not get inspired by their reliability...

But with that design who cares... I will walk away anyway.

All I want to know is whether the 4 series grille is framed or frameless.

The Alfa looks way better. Much cleaner. The rendering on the BMW is just to busy and to much going on in the front end.

I know the render is a good representation of the final product, but I'm hoping the real car would flow & look better overall. I dislike most the lower part of the front bumper.

I'm willing to wait longer to find out so I'm not rushing to abandon BMW at this point. Tanzanite Blue would probably work for me.

For now, excuse me, but nobody knows
So all of the M3 spy shots that clearly show this behemoth of a grille are fake? Whaaaaatever buddy 🙄
I'm with Bajos. I would be shocked if BMW puts that funky azz grill we have seen in leaks and spy shots on the G80!! Ducking for cover now...

So while the overall aesthetic appears as two, giant, conjoined kidney grills, in reality the frontal grill area is still separated into four quadrants, bisected by the number plate support beam.

So while this big grill approach could allow for more airflow and cooling, I personally think it is for aesthetics mainly. Since there is still no airflow going through the grill at the horizontal number plate support beam, BMW could have designed the front end to have two smaller, traditional kidneys and one larger lower front intake a la the e9x and f8x M cars.

EDIT: made a quick 'n dirty sketch to show what I'm talking about lol
IMO, that "license plate support beam's" primary function is mostly about crash worthiness
