Are you referring to the cruise control? In the past BMWs would brake going downhill to keep the speed set in the cruise control.

Mine will occasionally go over the speed limit with the speed limiter on when going down hill....the HUD goes red and (I think) flashes.
The car will brake automatically so it does not exceed the set speed (not the speed limit) when cruise control on. If you have Driver Assist Plus (or is it Pro?) activated and the speed limiter fully activated (i.e. The button held down until the green tick appears in HUD) the car will slow down, using the brakes if necessary, when entering a new lower speed limit area. |

I'm referring to the speed limiter (LIM button on the steering wheel). Cruise control keeps the desired speed indeed, but inside the city I prefer to use speed limiter, it is just more convenient to me. I also use it in Sport/Comfort modes, so that should not be the result of the transmission decoupling from the engine.
I've found this in the manual: Quote:
Edit: Found some info that Merc has/had a patent for a speed limiter that utilizes brakes. Makes sense, as my Infiniti (Q30) was based on a Merc platform. Last edited by mkadan; 03-02-2020 at 03:51 PM.. |
