Also the higher your car spec and the more options you have the more power they drain, according to the dealer that is but it does make sense, all the radars reading the road constantly for the self drive must be using something.

That's what we need to see.

The other interesting figure is 17.4kWh/100km... that's right on the 330e WLTP rating... * Vehicle Consumption 280 Wh/mile (for UK users).

So it is possible.

* Vehicle = calculated battery energy consumption used by the vehicle for propulsion and on-board systems.

Absolutely, nothing can be hidden.

Other than the necessary onboard systems to run and propel the car, everything else is consuming energy that could be 'miles'. Including what appears insignificant, like interior lights, or charging the phone. Using high energy consumers like heated seats, rear heated screen, really eat into the mileage.

Picked up my new 330e. Brilliant 200 mile drive home. I have some questions:
1. What amp setting in the car should I use with the granny cable and 3 pin socket?
2. What is the charging socket in the armrest storage box for? It’s too small for a USB.
3. Can you send a destination to the car from your phone? When I do a message shows on the app saying log into your account in the vehicle to start navigation - how do you do that?
4. Can you personalise the news feeds like you can in the G30?
5. Today’s trip isn’t showing under the activity tab in the app, should it?

Thanks in advance!

Either way - it’s nuts losing that range over such a short journey driving sedately.
Still interested in the kWh/100km (or Wh/mile) figures. That is key to the actual consumption. If it calculates and adds up with charge rates, will tell you how accurate the readouts and predictions are.

Do note that average speed was below 60 kph. Around 100-110 on a flat road 20-21 KWh is more typical in my experience...

True very true. But then I have a base spec M Sport with no additional options.

Congrats! Enjoying it?

1. Depends on your wiring at home? I have mine set at 10a and it’s fine, but it’ll be set to 6a out of the box. If you live in a house with decent wiring and loads try “amping” it up a bit each day to see where you go. I’m sticking with 10.
2. It’s a USB C socket. Faster charging than USB A (regular one).
3. Yes you can - through connected drive app. Better still, use voice assistant - it’s very good for the most part - including the “Hey BmW, take me home!”
4. Not sure about personalising news feeds.
5. App doesn’t show journey data I’m afraid. There is a tab for it on the full web version of Connected Drive “virtual cockpit” - but it appears to be broken and doesn’t work for many users.

Get some pics up! Enjoy!

And that is the issue and a lot of the disappointment in EV mileage. The official tests, like the WLTP rating and published figures, are not reflecting how most are going to drive.

Thanks for that. Yes I really enjoyed the drive home. I got 52mpg over the 200 miles. It did 60kms on electric. The Harmon K was very good as were the laser headlights. Lovely drive altogether. When I send a destination from my phone app, where do I find it in the car?

It’ll automatically come up to begin navigation on the screen when you turn it on. Providing your car has been approved on Connected Drive and your driver profile is signed in on the car too.

How do you sign into your driver profile?

I'm thinking of ordering a 330e, so I'm interested in stuff like this. You say you "popped it into cruise control", but what did you do to the drivetrain? Force it to use the ICE? How? I've had a play in the showroom and I'm aware you have various options to control the battery etc.

Unless you're in electric only mode the car won't go above 68mph without automatically starting the ice

Thanks. So the mode you'd be in is "Hybrid"? That will leave you on battery power alone and then above 68mph the ICE would kick in?

Nope, electric is electric only. Hybrid is a mixture of electric only and ICE (automatically controlled by the car especially if you use hybrid eco pro and have the nav set), sport is ICE AND battery(motor) ((full power or happy mode))

Also in hybrid mode the battery will be used unless you either exceed 68mph or accelerate hard the t he ICE kicks in

OK. So when Cranester1983 talked about using electric only in town and on roads less than 60 and 70mph limit, he will have had it in electric mode up to 60 mph, and then he would have pressed the Hybrid ECO PRO setting to let the car decide?

Maybe when Cranester1983 replies it will be clear.

How do you set the temperature that the climatisation will climatise to? Also when I got in my heated seat and steering wheel were on - very nice! How can I set it so that the passenger seat also pre-heats in order to keep my wife happy?

Driving in Hybrid Eco Pro the whole journey.
You can pop it into manual shift to engage the petrol engine or let it do itself above 68mph

You can’t control temperature I don’t think - it sets it dependent on outside and current in cabin temperature. If you find out otherwise, do let me know!

Be warned though as good as it is, it eats a fair chunk into the battery life before you start!
