F8X Wheelbase will be the same as the G22, that's a given...

F12 M6 Wheelbase: 112.2"
G15 M8 Wheelbase: 111.1"
G22 440i Wheelbase: 112.2"

See the problem there is thats wheelbase,

The M6 is 192.8 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 53.9 inches tall
The 440i will be 187.7 inches long, 72.9 inches wide, 54.6 inches tall

M6 is longer, wider, lower than the G22 4 series, that being said it is still longer than the F generation by about 5 inches

I never really looked into this until now but holy smokes! In the words of Craig from the movie 'Next Friday', "Stop trying to hook me up with the little sister that's bigger than the big sister!"

Wheelbase and track is what is felt by the driver. Overall length and width, not so much.

Unless you put something really heavy like an engine there. The G8X doesn’t so I agree. The extra inches in the rear won’t be much of a dynamics issue.

Here's the dimensions of all non-M coupes

F32 4 series:
Length 182.6 in
Width 71.9 in
Height 54.2 in

G22 4 series:
Length 187.7 in
Width 72.9 in
Height 54.6 in

E63 6 series:
Length 189.8 in
Width 73.0 in
Height 54.1 in

F13 6 series
Length 192.7 in
Width 74.6 in
Height 53.7 in

G15 8 series
Length 190.7 in
Width 74.9 in
Height 52.8 in

It's still smaller than an E63 6 series but only marginally. But FWIW I'm sure the M4 will be wider than the E63 M6 and barely any shorter.

Oh I see, so the new M4 might drive like a lighter M6 with its similar wheelbase eh, at least its still easy to park :/

A longer wheelbase makes a car less agile, less keen to change direction.

If that’s the case, why the hell is the M8 so heavy? Why does the thing have to be 4,300 pounds?

Or, if we look at the 8 Series I6 model and compare to the equivalent 4 Series:

G22 M440i xDrive: 3,977 lbs
G15 840i xDrive: 4034 lbs

Another data point:

G22 M440i: Coming March 2021, ~3870 lbs?
G15 840i: 3933 lbs

Interesting that the latest X-drive now “only” add 101 lbs.

All brands this is happening. 992 looks absolutely massive, 991 looks much bigger than 997, etc.... If you want a smaller coupe, get the current M2 IMO.

The baby M will continue to grow. My 1M parked next to an M2 looks small, I have a feeling the same thing will happen when comparing the current F87 to the upcoming G87.

For a sedan, I do not mind the increase in size on the G80, because it is becoming a baby M5 and I have 3 kids and it is not a coupe, so the extra size provides good practicality, but if on a back road just for fun give me a small coupe every time.

You might want to have a look at the 48V thread if you haven’t already. Something closer to your heart than size is hidden in there

Late but for reference: My '19 850i has done 3.41 0-60, 3.24 with 1 foot rollout on the street. 1/4 in 11.58 @ 120 MPH (75°F, 3200DA). 523 hp/553 tq 4500LBS

The new G80 will/should be 510hp/442tq but 3800LBS. car will easily do a 3.1/3.2 with rollout and can crack 3.3 from a complete standstill.

Also, I've seen a article that said the G82 M4 will be 3,527 lbs. I don't know how true that is but if it is... lord have mercy

I doubt it will be that light but the M boss said it will be the fastest street car there is...I suspect he was caught up in the moment and likely regret those words but hey sounds like it will rip

Possibly a 9 second 1/4 car on stock turbos! Can't wait to see the builds and progress with them

C/D ran 3.3 with the X3M...same engine (minus some tweaks), so I expect the M3 to run better and closer to 3.0. Competition with xDrive could easily run 3.0

I need to be fair and give him a chance, the exact words were the fastest every day street car there is. Still that’s a tall order with in house cars as the M8 and competition as Teslas and 992 turbo S which is kind of an every day car.
