Normal steering wheel wrinkles?
Are these wrinkles normal? I have 10k miles on my car. Have 2 other cars w leather wheels one w 30k miles and one with 70k and neither have these.
Think it's something the dealer would replace for free or am I just too picky? |

That definitely doesn’t look normal. I’d take it to the dealer and push them for a replacement. In fact, I remember reading somewhere (idk if it was the G20 forum or one of the others) about someone having a similar issue (though his wasn’t this bad) and one of the dealers replaced it for him (the first place he took his car to said it was normal).

Heated steering wheel is not as "tight" as the one without heating, but not as much as on your pictures.

I have a heated wheel and my leather is perfectly tight (no wrinkles).

Mine is beginning to distort, fold, as well. Also about 19k on it. Notified BMW via my local dealership and they said they couldn't (wouldn't) do anything for me (after initially telling me they would). [IMG][/IMG]

It's one of those things that is totally unacceptable and should be swiftly dealt with by your dealer. Unfortunately, they'll blame everything from the "oils on your skin" to "hand sanitizer due to covid" as the the "normal wear and tear" of your leather wrapped wheel.
My advice is to keep pressuring them, and ask other dealers around you to request their assistance. |

Got my steering wheel replaced under warranty today at no charge. Didnt have to push the dealer at all just told them the wrinkles didn't seem normal and they replaced. Looks much better.

It seems like the leather wrapping of the wheel is a bit 'loose' sometimes. |

Wrinkles?
After reading this thread yesterday, I looked at my steering wheel and noticed some wrinkles. It’s the first time in 15 months of ownership that I was even aware of them. So it’s not an issue for me.

They should replace it under warranty. On my old F10, the BMW emblem on the steering wheel was peeling and the dealer replaced the entire steering wheel under warranty.

Not normal. My cars are 7 and 9 years old, and oldest car I had was 12 years old before selling and none had this crazy stuff. And your's is new.
Looks like some defect. Go get it replaced and get may be some nice OEM upgrade - M Performance etc (pay the difference if needed). Id do that. Opportunity!
