Pure Stage 2 M340XI 1/4 mile: 10.60s @ 130mph

A buddy of mine who isn't on the forums has a well put together M340 with Pure Stage 2 turbo on it. Just did his best run so I figured I'd slap his YouTube video here for your amusement.

How isn’t the transmission delaying the shifts with that much power, I’m running a custom mhd stage 2 e50 tune and the amount of power I have the car is torque limiting shifts

Thanks for sharing OP!

Could you please share your friends mod list?

Did transmission clutches have to be upgraded? Member on another forum with B58 Supra had to with what I think is similar mods/power levels...

Surprised/Disappointed there aren't more threads in this forum with Pure or other turbo upgrades...

The mod list, which was listed at the end of the vid, clearly shows a good tune, E30 tune, DP, drop-in AF, etc. Nothing out of the norm such as upgraded trans clutches. I strongly believe that the lower weight of the M3401 is a big advantage over most M cars.

Wow, with that 0-60 time he's almost on par with a 911 Turbo S!

Thank you, sorry, should've watched the video first!

B58 is pretty incredible, not having to build motor or upgrade transmission to achieve that power level/performance.

Is the weight difference that much? M340i xDrive is ~3800 lbs, M3 is 100-150lbs more?

Lets hear from more owners with Pure 800 turbo upgrade!

I want to know what tires were able to grip these type of numbers?
Edit-
NVM its in the video. R88R. Ill never be able to get theses #s no tires are gripping at LC and sadly I would need smaller wheels to fit R88Rs.

What I wanna know is how the transmission is holding up...TCU tune? The ZF8 in my M340 already struggles on shifts with Stage 2 E50.

Same here, I can feel my transmission hesitate to shift and delay in the higher rpms, I can't imagine how this guy is running a bigger turbo and still has quick shifts. I think it might be the X-Drive that really changes it, maybe doesn't affect them as much compared to rwd like mine. XHP is sleeping at the wheel as usual and no progress has been made for 3rd gen 8HP from what I can tell.

Agreed, details/discussion on transmission mods necessary at these power levels would be appreciated.

Member on another forum with a Supra said he had to have transmission clutches upgraded at these power levels - an 8K cost including labor.

That's a big consideration, IMO, but yeah maybe BMW xDrive makes a difference?

Also, any general consensus/ballpark crank HP numbers at different stages of upgrades with the BMW B58 xDrive cars?

Stock - 450 crank hp?

Stage 1 (93 oct ECU tune) - 550 crank hp

Stage 2 (93 oct tune w/ DP, intake, etc) - 600 crank hp

Stage 3 (hybrid turbo + bolt ons) - 700 crank hp 93 oct/~800 crank hp e85?

Sorry, a lot of numbers/dynos/timeslips/mod lists are thrown around, just trying to sort through it all...

That is an excessive cost for clutches upgrade. I paid 5,800 total to upgrade my M5 clutches to SSR 900 hp kit.

Stage 1 (93 oct ECU tune) - 550 crank hp

Stage 2 (93 oct tune w/ DP, intake, etc) - 600 crank hp

Stage 3 (hybrid turbo + bolt ons) - 700 crank hp 93 oct/~800 crank hp e85?

Sorry, a lot of numbers/dynos/timeslips/mod lists are thrown around, just trying to sort through it all...
That price for upgrading of the clutches is very much out-of-line. I paid 5800 for my SSR clutches and labor on an M5. And yes, X-drive on my M5 made a huge difference.

Try BM3 maybe because they seem to have dealt with torque limiters in rexent updates

Car should have much more in it. This was only on E30... and i am sure they are limiting torque to keep the transmission happy.
