Cerium Grey on the mirror caps looks different from other trim pieces?
The 'Cerium Grey' color on my side-view mirror caps is more of a bronze-gold color than a silver grey color.
Has anyone experienced this too? Also, when water / moisture of any kind comes in contact with mirror caps, grill trim a darker brownish water spot seems to appear? Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

The color scheme was part of the car. I'm just concerned that the mirror caps are much darker than the other bits that are Cerium Grey color also. The upkeep isn't such of a concern for me, as much as I'm pretty sure the color isn't correct

The mirror caps having ugly water spots is something I've seen every time I've seen an M340i. Not sure what the deal is.

To my eyes the color looks more like a matte gray. I've heard people describe it as "gunmetal" colored as well when I brought my car to a meetup.
And yes, a single atom of dirt on the mirror cap will be visible from 5 feet away. Same goes for the grill. I actually like the color but will probably swap the grill/mirror caps out eventually for that reason. |

I try keeping the Cerium Gray pieces clean, but it's not easy. Also, I didn't really want to 'shine' these parts, I thought they were supposed to be a flat or matte finish. My mirror caps still seem to be more of a gold tone than the other Cerium Gray parts. I've tried communicating with the salesman, not much of an answer other than speak to BMW. I had done that before I spoke to my salesman. I knew that he would just dodge the issue, which sadly he has. BMW was nicer but clueless as how to help me, so they really haven't

I'm waiting for 3rd party CF replica caps, then I'll slap those on. I had them on my F30 and they looked every bit as nice for $75 bucks.

My CA said to use microfiber cloth to clean. I still see some spotting though.

Waxed mine today with some synthetic wax. Will see how it responds.

I am not really happy with the Cerium Grey on the Mirror caps or Grill. It has smugges and spots so bad. I hope once I have it ceramic coated in a few weeks that issue goes away. I am going to try and have the mirrors covered in xpel but my guy does not think it will stick. We will find out soon. I will follow up with what he figures out. But love the color but hate hate the spotting.
