This is pretty standard across all manufacturers AFAIK. Both of my Dodges have done it, my buddy's Mazda, a friend's Ford, etc. Cruise control + gas pedal = settles back into cruise speed; cruise control + brake pedal = disengage until manually resumed.

I had no idea. I thought you had to manually bring the car back up to speed! Or hit resume.

Come to think of it, I don't think it's absolute - if you stomp the gas and floor it I think it disengages if there's too much of a speed delta from your cruise setting. I'll have to test that out but I feel like that's happened before now that I think about it more.

I got my 330i Friday and have been figuring out all of the ways it is different than my old 540i. One is the way the auto brake hold functions. In my past two 5-series it would subtly engage each time I came to a stop. With the 330i I have to press a little harder after coming to a stop or it won't engage, kind of like how Mercedes does it. I don't like this and I don't recall other G20 models I've driven having this issue. Maybe it is a change for 2021.

I have the same experience, in both G20 and another BMW. However, for me, one brand (Persol) makes the HUD very hard to see, while my Oakleys work fine. (Both have polarized lenses.)

I'd welcome any input on other brands that work well.

My sister just purchased a 2021 M340i and I noticed a couple differences from my 2020. The first is the exhaust note. Mine snap, crackles and pops. Her car is subtle at best. Her 2021 can also choose between a Tachometer or Power gauge (such as the one in the 530e and 2021 540i). Her 2021 with "HiFi audio" doesn't have tweeters as my 2020 with HiFi does and her 2021 doesn't have a auto stop/start button... just a bit of information

Bmwphile ,

I noticed on my previous BMW, the HUD darn near disappeared if I wore polarized sunglasses so I always wear non-polarized; think it has to do with the way the HUD works

Did anyone find out how to open the trunk with the digital key?

I found out yesterday that if you push options on the idrive control panel you can switch the screen off altogether.

Get in the car as normal with the digital key. Put your phone on the charger like you normally need to in order to start the engine. With the phone in place you can use the button inside the car to open the trunk. Can't be done with the digital key from outside.

Found out the hard way today that the locking wheel nut key is hidden in a secret compartment to the left hand of the boot underneath the tyre pump and first aid kit.

After ringing my dealer and BMW assist neither could point me in the right direction so had to wait for BMW assist to come out and locate it 🙈likely the car garage were very helpful and didn't mind having to wait over an hour to take the wheel off.

Haha, fun, worst part is that in the EU the car doesn't have a key to open it from the inside.

It's the axis of the polarization in your sunglass lenses. I doubt that's tightly controlled during the manufacturing process, so each pair of sunglasses will be different.

BTW - some gas pump information (video) screens are worthless when wearing polarized sunglasses.

I'm new to the G20, coming from a 2017 Audi A4. Even with polarized sunglasses, I found I was able to see the HUD in the Audi ok. On the BMW, it's just too faint. I was surprised how hard it was to find non-polarized sunglasses. I ended up ordering some AO Original Pilot Sunglasses on Amazon. They weren't cheap but seem well-regarded.

Speaking of faint, the backup camera is very dark at night compared to my Audi. Not sure if that's a common issue or is related to my back window being tinted? In any case, I can barely make anything out when backing up in the pre-dawn hours.

Funny you mention this, because I've thought the same thing. I wondered if it was the actual reverse lights, themselves, but I think it's just the camera is a bit dim.

Mine doesn't work. 2020 330e, no shift lights. Annoyingly. I wonder if this depends what software version you have.

My back up and 3-D cameras appear darker in all views than I remember. I bet it changed after a software update.

Really? Assist and the dealer never knew

At least you had yours. Mine somehow went 'missing' and I had to wait a week for a new one.

Not sure if it's a 340 thing. You are not missing anything, they are way too small to be useful anyway.

Yes, I wasn't to pleased. Apparently it's only in that place on the G20 330e but I don't believe that.

I was dreading having to wait for a new one with the tyre flat and not being able to move the car! Next time I have a question, I'm coming straight here for answers and not my dealer 😂
