I learned today that if you forget to disable Stop/Start and you pull up in traffic and the engine stops, the engine restarts when the car in front pulls away.

Agreed.

I hated how my SQ5 drove, but loved the tech. It was seamless and it complimented the experience versus BMWs that tends to regularly work against itself
I hear you, I had an S5 and the technology was fantastic, gotta hand it to Audi in that department but driving-wise the car felt a bit limp in sport mode when compared to my M340i.

I just realized today that even my non M-sport 330i produces the exhaust pops and bangs when in sport mode...not sure if this has been changed by software recently but i have super old software. I thought it was exclusive to m-sport models in sport + mode but i guess not. Either way, sounds really great!

Yes. And the 2020 B9.5 has a better live cockpit (IMHO) with one more view. The cockpit view changes in the different drive select modes unlike previously where it wouldn't.
I would have thought this could be coded?

Yes it does pop and crackle in sport mode. It does it slightly more on sport plus mode

I was referring to the A4. Not our G20s. In the A4, it could be coded to have the S4 or RS4 cockpit. But it didn't change depending on which mode you were in unlike in our 3 series where it changes depending on sport or comfort or eco.

I recently discovered this as well. Very cool feature!

Even the SQ5 felt limp, which tells you something about how Audi treats their 'performance' line.

My summary of Audi: You don't feel the road, the steering was numb and the lag in the turbo was really bad.

However, the sound system was superb (the B/O) and the tech just worked, consistently.

It's not the turbo lag that kills the Audi S models, it's the transmission tuning/lag. If they could have addressed that, I would still be driving one.

I've only had mine for a week. But I discovered the steering intervention and how awful a feature it is and how to turn it off.

I purposely didn't option all the driver aids but apparently this one was free. no thanks.

You can no longer manually turn off the lights at night while the vehicle is in motion

The steering intervention is pretty annoying, but I don't think there is a necessary correlation between that and drive assist pro. Drive assist pro will definitely keep the car in the lane, but the reason you would turn it on is because you want to use your hands and eyes for something else for longer than would be safe to take them off the road.

With all the options in the infotainment / nav system, not to mention texts and calls, it's nice to be able to tweak a few settings or get a few texts sent out without the requirement that your eyes are on the road at all times, especially at highway speeds. Even small things like looking at the map, checking your phone, etc.

Some who have road in my car have said "I'd have trouble trusting the car to drive for me"... I remind them that everyone said the same thing about cruise control when it first started emerging on new vehicle models ("I'm not letting a car accelerate that doesn't know how to brake")... well after all these years of "dangerous" cruise control, we now have active cruise control. Adding steering to the mix is just another step forward.

When I use it, the road is never completely out of my vision. I think its most useful when you keep the road in peripheral vision. The requirement to tap the steering wheel every 30 seconds or so is a useful timer reminder to look at the situation every now and then.

I've discovered that if I plug an iPod into the USB C socket by the centre arm rest, I have to disconnect / reconnect it after the car goes to sleep; which doesn't happen with the USB A connector by the cup holders.

I've also discovered that the anti-slip mat for wireless charging of a phone does a terrible job of keeping an iPod Nano in place.

What? So, if you leave the car with something plugged in, after some time you come back and start the car again, the USB-C port won't start charging right away and that you need to reconnect the cable?

If so my 330e doesn't behave like that. I have an old iphone for carplay only allways connected to the usb-c inside the armrest, and It allways charges when I start the car, never unplugged the cable in months

That 12 mths in it's still a temperamental little creature with random software tantrums, despite having a great body and chassis at its core.

joselrl - kinda.

I haven't checked whether it charges or not, but the iPod disappears as a media source exactly as you explained.

I got bored with having to disconnect / reconnect after a car shut down, so now the iPod rattles around near the cup holders.

Not sure if this has been stated before, but I learned that even in comfort mode, there's some occasional pops from the exhaust, albeit much quieter.

It's an iOS safety feature. Any modern (ha!) iOS device would do so, it's the same when locked and connecting to your computer.

In general settings > passcode > down there, usb, turn this on and it will allow you to use the usb when the device has been locked & disconnected for >1 hour.

It works perfectly in the USB A socket (as it has done in my past 3 BMWs) - It's just the USB C connector that won't automatically recognise the device after the car has been shut down for a while. I have to unplug it and plug it in again.

The iPod itself isn't locked / PIN set up either. I'm pretty confident nobody is going to want to steal my Spice Girls MP3 files.

It was my understanding that only the front center console USB-A socket worked for data transfer (media), and that all the USB-C sockets were for charging only (with one exception related to the nav system). So I'm surprised that USB-C ever works for making your device show up as a media source.

From the online owners manual:

(Sockets section)
The total load of all sockets must not exceed 140 watts at 12 volts.

(USB interface section)

A USB interface is located in the center armrest.
Properties:
USB port Type C.
For charging of mobile devices.
Charge current: max. 3 A.
With navigation system: for data transfer.

A USB interface is located in the center console.
Properties:
USB port Type A.
For charging mobile devices and for data transfer.
Charge current: max. 1.5 A.

A USB interface with two USB ports is located in the center console in the rear.
Properties:
USB port Type C.
For charging of mobile devices.
Charge current: max. 3 A per connection.
