This^^^

530e had to be priced same as gasoline only 530i to move it out of dealer lots.

Previous F10 ActiveHybrid 5 was a flop and priced same or higher than equivalent 535i at the time .

I can't speak to all the models but I cross shopped the Volvo XC60
T8 against the BMW 530e and the Volvo lost. Despite allegedly having 400 HP, it felt slow and dodgy compared to the BMW and wallowed in the turns. Hence I purchased the BMW. So I don't consider the Volvo T8, at least in the XC60 format, as a performance phev.

But, of course, I share your desire.

EPA rating for the F30 was 14miles. Many owners were able to exceed that with conservative driving by a couple miles.

22mile EPA range for new 330e seems like a good step up. 25miles should be do-able if you don't drive like a hoon. For many, that could cover most their daily miles.
My girlfriend had a 330e F30 and Max was 18 miles of being very gentle on the pedal. It was in San Francisco though.

The reading from the car but it's pretty accurate.
I do 50km on battery on a daily basis (the actual distance to my work is at almost 25km one way)

I am cross-shopping this with the Tesla Model 3. Right now I am leaning to the Tesla 3 as a better value proposition.

honestly there's no comparison between a hybrid car vs the model 3, unless that car is the 918 sypder.

there can be a case made if you go for a M340i or S4 or C43 vs the awd long range model 3, but i wouldn't touch any hybrids with a ten feet pole, there's just no more advantage to having them over a BEV. pretty soon it'll be meaningless for any manufacture to even continue making hybrid models.

I've heard this argument before but I don't understand it. Care to explain it for those of us who don't see it?

One of the reasons why I went with a 530e over Model S was that I didn't have to worry about driving somewhere far if I had to. So, at least to me, it seems like a clear advantage for a PHEV.

I'm a bit envious of all the options the US gets as standard. I attempted to recreate the "standard" equipment in the EU configurator and ended up with a MSRP starting at USD 52,000 (before VAT). What you have across the pond is a really good deal.

If you can squeeze your commuting distance to plugin hybrid's electric range and you don't mind daily charging then you wont get much back from going fully electric like with model 3 (on economics & practicality, performance that is other story ofc). If you live in country where supercharging network is not yet fully build your model 3 might even become nuisance in long distance travel. Model 3 is awesome car, but I wouldn't say hybrids are dead, not yet. It would be especially interesting to see when commercial solid state batteries with double energy density will hit the market, basically doubling range of existing hybrids and fully electric cars, or slashing price of battery by half with same range (assuming they hit same price eventually).
