Maybe only in the bimmerpost classifieds lol.... it is most likely bmw made this change because the 2020 pops and burbles are over the top and were getting negative feedback in the general market.

It's boosts of 11hp not an 11hp increase. Tell me why the 0 to 60 times are the same?

If you don't already have an account I think you'll need to make one. You go to My Garage and add the car using your production number from your order sheet. Your SA should be able to provide it if you don't have it. |

Right now we have a 2021 M340 loaner. The exhaust is definitely lower toned and I don't hear any burble. I tried it on S+ too. The gearing feels different as well. Not hating on the 21' but it def didn't feel the same as our 20'

You should take it easy on folks. I personally enjoy the pops and burbles. Even if they are manufactured by software is enhances the driving experience, which is part of the enjoyment. I would be disappointed if I drove a 20' and ordered a 21' and the experience wasn't the same. To each their own right?

Yea, my car has been in that status for about 2weeks; I don’t think the BMW tracking system is accurate. I also called the BMW 1-800 number to inquire on my build and I received the automated message that completion is scheduled for February 3rd. So based on that date and what I’ve read on these forums, I’ll be taking delivery late Feb, early March.

here's a really quick POV video I took on my phone, and some revs at a local self service car wash ( there's an overhang/roof at the car wash so there's a bit of an echo). I know the quality is pretty bad but hopefully this is a bit useful for anyone thinking about getting the MPE for their MY2021, highly recommend it.

If you’re the kind of guy that likes heavy lift offs to create pops and bangs to make people notice the exhaust, or like the novelty of crackles and pops that are over the top to the point of sounding fake the ‘20 suits you better. I have driven both, I have a ‘21, it’s plenty loud and the burbles still draw attention from passengers. My mother in law hates it so I’m happy with it I guess.
I guess I felt the ‘20 was fairly obnoxious in that I dont need pops and crackles when I’m going 20mph in my parking garage. 30 year old boomer here. |

Agreed, the gearing is definitely different in sport plus. The mid range rpm's tend to hang quite a bit more than they used to on sport plus.

Yea you really need to hear it in person to see whether or not you like the difference in sound, the MPE pretty much just makes the already stock sound maybe 25% louder, if you're comparing the stock sound from a parked/revving position. The biggest difference is when you're actually driving, you get a 20-30% sound increase and probably three times as much pops and bangs when comparing it to stock. From a POPS and BANGS standpoint I really don't see myself wanting anymore, has more than enough to where it doesn't actually drown out what the actual sound/tone of the straight 6 sounds like. From a VOLUME standpoint.......... it can always be louder, tone could be deeper, but once I get an aftermarket downpipe I feel like I'll hit a sweetspot. If you dont go for the MPE go for something that has a valve setup for your exhaust, it will save you from some minor drone during highway driving.

Out of curiosity, how much faster 0-60 is it? They both have 382 HP and I don't see any differences in 0-60 on their website. I also dont remember reading anywhere about it being faster, only the start/stop being smoother and less noticeable.
We actually have videos to compare of 20 vs 21 for the exhaust and its a noticeable difference. I have yet to see any 20 vs 21 drag race to confirm any difference in speed. |
