M340i - Car Does Not Get Warm with Remote Start

I have a 2020 M340i and I notice that the car doesn't get warm anymore with remote start. If I leave it on for the full 15 minutes the interior will only begin to warm by the time I get in (usually I remote start about 5 minutes before I leave). In contrast, my wife's 2019 X5 (also with a B58) will begin to get warm after about 5 minutes. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes 5 minutes is a little too short. I leave mine for at least 10 minutes and it gets sufficiently warm.

Not sure if this is related at all, but I have noticed the steering wheel heater in our X5 gets significantly warmer than in the 3 series. The 3 series steering wheel gets lukewarm at best.

Yeah even after 10 minutes mine isn't really getting warm yet. Hmm.

Mine is warm in like 5 mins and I live in a state w shit winters (MN). I remote start my car every morning and when I'm leaving work. Also my oil gets to temp way quicker in my M340 than my 335i ever did

Surely any cabin heat, solely from the ICE, will be ambient temperature dependant. Having the greatest impact on the time the engine and the cabin warm up.

Unless you have a model with auxiliary heating, or an electric heating element in the HVAC system, it's a slow way to heat a cabin from an idling engine.

Noticed this as well. Comparing 2020 3 series to X5, the X5's steering wheel gets almost hot compared to just warm in the 3. I'm perfectly happy with it, though. Better than having to fiddle it on and off. I've been in cars where it doesn't heat evenly, has different materials like wood that remain cold or get way too hot... It's just right in the G20, IMO.

Both my previous F30 and my current G20 have pretty mediocre steering wheel heating just as you mentioned. Given this was a constant across both models, I assumed it's just crappy hardware BMW is using and never bothered complaining to the dealer since I'm not sure there is much they can do.

Very true. The steering wheel in our Audis become hot compared to the one in the G20. And I used to think the Audis had lukewarm steering wheels compared to our old F25 which used to get real hot!!!

Yeah I get that but like I said, the X5 heats up very quickly and I feel like this car used to heat up quicker in my first year of ownership as compared to now. AM temps are in the upper 20s, lower to mid 30s so nothing too crazy.
