I saw a lot of contradicting posts/impressions these past months regarding the 0-60 times (or 0-62 for Europe). People in the US state 3.8, in Europe 0-62 times range anywhere between 4.1 to 4.4. Thought it also had to to because the US market model has 382, where the EU spec states as having 374. But when i took delivery of mine, the guy at the dealership told me that in his computer, the car left the factory having 388bhp All is good, no matter, BUT i am really curious how would the car perform in a real world drag race head-to-head with an M4 AND an M550i )) Just my luck! Last night, while looking for new vids on the tube wit the car, this popped up :P

The review itself is kinda shite and you can tell it's probably the first, but i do appreciate the cars he brought to the table and the quality of the video.

I enjoyed the M2 comparison better. It wasn't done on the public streets screaming racial slurs at us. That aside, the M340i 0-60 is impressive, but it's designed to be. The M4 wasn't designed to be a drag car. If it was, it would have allowed for more than 305's in back. That's also the base M4. M4 CS 0-60 is 3.7 sec.

Additionally, the drag was done with a negative grade where RWD are at a disadvantage. Why didn't they do this on a real track?

I knew M340i is going to blow the old f30 N55 355i/B58 340i out of water. I knew it is faster than F8x in straight line (up to 1/4 mile at least). But it beats a fucking M550i xDrive with a V8 putting out 500+ bhp? Man, wtf! And this a EU car! I know 8 hp diff won't make much of a difference but still.


(OK....i just checked, M550i only put out 455bhp...and with its weight, it lost, make sense...)

Anyone up for executing a more exciting Covid-19 focused comparison - M3 vs M5? Two separate families of 4, adult parents, one teenager (with intermittent access to Instagram), one child with a child seat - visiting 3 separate stores to find large packs of thin sheets made of fibrous substance, picking up a to-go family dinner, navigating 3 times through the nearest hypermarket parking lot - and returning home.

Differentiation is as old as the civilization itself.

not surprised about the outcome vs the M4 off of a dig - AWD will always win especially since there is not a huge power to weight ratio difference.

with the M550i, the M340i seems to get a better launch, but it's close enough.

Off a roll though where traction and driver skill is not an issue,the M4 will win followed by the M550i then the M340i. Stock vs stock the 2018/2019 M550i traps about 3-4 mph higher than M340i which is why I am sure off of a roll it will pull away.

I knew this. I've smoked both M3, M4 and M550 on the streets. In fact whenever I see a M3/4 they don't want no smoke unless they are heavily modded. 💪🏾

In my observation, it looks like the M4 got a better launch than the M340 but the M4 had to feather the throttle right after to keep it under control. This is where the M340 passes and continues to gain ground until the M4 has enough traction to floor it.

With the prepped asphalt of a drag strip, the M4 would likely be able to keep the foot to the floor for the entire race and dominate the M340.

I disagree. Both cars will gain traction in a drag environment! Just face it the m340i is faster off the line.

Video is made in my country and the host is retarded.They make clear advertisment of the m340 the "track" is around 1/8mile (200m) 100 meters more and m340 will be last against all...also our roads is very old and slippery and rwd have 0 chance against awd from a dig

RWD vs AWD, Manual vs Auto (based on the launch), bad launch (went sideways shifting into 2nd). Even if it was a DCT, it was a terrible tire spinning launch. Try an M4 with DCT and launch control and I can guarantee a different result - even with only RWD. I don't even have an F80 M4.

If you think drag times are important, then those things I listed are not just excuses. They are very important to such a one dimensional comparison as a drag race. Especially considering this was a 1/8mi long stretch of road. That's tailor made to benefit the lighter car with AWD - which is how it beat the M550i and the M4. Of course it'll beat a RWD 335i. You can even see the M4 was already gaining on the M340i near the end.

I've run an M340 from about 55 mph and it was not even close.

From a dig anything with awd and 275 hp is fast

I have rwd 335 with bm3 st2 also and cant go under 6.5sec 0-100 on 90% of the streets. Best 4.7 on new road.U can see the difference...

This. Don't get me wrong the M340i is a great car, top notch at what it is and is designed for. My coworker has one, it's impressive... good news for the G80, it's going to be a performance beast (uhg but that grill). Anyway, we've done several pulls from 35/40 mph up to over 110mph... my bone stock F80 M3 CP has won 100% of the time. It's simple math... after traction isn't a problem, generally more power under the curve will win all other things equal. Haven't had the chance to go from a stand still, but no doubt he would win off the line with AWD. First world problems.

I agree there are million different variables which come into play when drag racing, but in a real world situation if an M3/4 tries me at a light I'm smoking em. #Facts

Regardless of Drag times or track times - your average consumer doesn't even see a drag-strip, but if that helps you sleep at night 👌🏾🤣!

I figured this video would be controversial and couldn't wait for someone to prove the m340i is the all around better car when it comes to tech, engine, trans ect.

I hate to say it, but the M4 failed yet again to put that power down resulting in a "L"! Sorry bud.
