Three recalls on the M340i!

Brought my car in for rattle in speaker, low oil, unresponsive selector dial on steering wheel, Bluetooth issues, and the one recall I was aware of. Found out there were two more recalls I wasn't notified about. One for software related issues and the other is unclear.

This is my first time getting a first year car and I'm not sure I'll ever do it again...

You may have required service items beyond the recall, but there is only a recall for the back up camera at this time.

Mine is the first year for the B58, so far no major issues. These cars are actually more reliable than the previous version. Also, no recalls.

Mine is at the dealer for the cross traffic alert not working. We will see what recalls they perform on the car.

Can you provide more specifics on this? I'm not sure that my cross traffic alert has actually ever even gone off, though there is no formal recall issued for it.

Was specifically told by service department there were a total of three but admittedly I do not know the specifics

Update: one of the additional recalls is for the "Program Control Unit" whatever that is

Appears to be a silent recall as I do not see this information on the recall portals

Just because there is a recall doesn't mean your vehicle has "issues". Most BMW recalls nowadays are programming recalls anyway. For example updated DME software or Rear View Camera programming recall.

I recommend you don't take the recalls too seriously and just keep driving your car normally and service it when it needs servicing. There are no major recalls that have to do with reliability or major engine/vehicle issues so there is no need to upset about it.

More upset with the other issues I brought it in for than the recalls. Bad oil sensor, unresponsive selector, rattling speaker, I drive issues, etc. Seems like bad quality control, but it is what it is. Also being without my car for a week driving a base x3 is no fun.

You bought a 1st production year car...... all of that stuff is pretty common and BMW will fix it. Consider yourself lucky that you actually have a BMW loaner. They could of just rent you a Chevy something and call it a day.

When it comes to recalls and repairs of this sort BMW actually is pretty good.

I had one of the 1st E92 335s in 2006 and that car had too had oil sensor, i-drive, high pressure fuel pump & etc etc issues which were all addressed by the dealership. By 2008 MY most of those issues were addressed.

I just made an appointment for my M340 and one of the items was:

BMW FACTORY RECALL CAMPAIGN - B310719 Service Action: Front Axle Support B31 07 19

Did a quick search, but didn't find any more information about this one.

My cross traffic does not work either. What was your service outcome?

Neither does mine, weird..

I thought maybe it was just subtle but now that your guys mention it, I also never saw it in action..

(And Yes, it is checked off as on in the iDrive menu)

NTF (No Trouble Found). The cross traffic alert is very subtle. It is simply the bottom corner of the 360 view lighting up red for a small amount of time. Now that I know what to look for, I have seen it happen, but I think this is a terrible design. I have never heard it beep at all. It will not detect pedestrians or other objects, only cars approaching.

I took my car in for the cross traffic alert not alerting . No problem per BMW. Basically BMW's cross traffic is not a very good system. Hopefully they are working on improving it.

I made an appointment for my first oil change and the dealer informed me that there are 3 open recalls on my M340i.

I have received notices in the mail for these two:

19E-A02 Reprogram OBD Software
19V-684 Rearview Camera

I didn't have time to get the details of the 3rd one but I plan on calling the service department on Monday and getting some more information.

UPDATE:

Third recall is B611-319 Dual Storage System

One is for cavity for front suspension. Potential rust issue and front cavity needs to be Re sprayed with sealant. Mine done last week.

Dealer called me last week about the axle recall. They said it needed a spraying to prevent rust. Taking mine in tomorrow and will post if I find out anything
