It looks very beautiful in this walk-around vid. The only apparent visual "flaw" to me is the color of those kidney surrounds. The blackish/dark gray surrounds make the kidneys look too big and a bit goofy. I think a traditional chrome-lined surround or something like a brushed silver or titanium color would balance the proportions a bit better and make this car look just perfect. I have to hand it to Mr. van Hooydonk and his team!

"We have managed to hide the bonet line..."

So, it can be done... Of course it can. It was done successfully before, when BMW use to have a flawless design, simple, elegant, yet aggressive and unique (well defined angel eyes, Hofmeister kink, etc). No more...

What about the rest of the ugly hood-line models please?

Gotta say the M sport looks way better than the regular line as was true with the F30. Interested to see how wide the hips are in the forthcoming M3 and obviously if it will have MT.

Geez maybe I'll pick up another F80 ZCP. To be honest "THIS" I was expecting much much more, disappointed.

Tbh the msport is sick. Already started growing on me lol. The car looks so much better and proportioned in videos than pictures.

I like the 330 msport look more than the M340 look. But the power is hard to say no to lol.

Interesting bit of trivia on the topic of a Japanese connection to BMW design is that some very renowned BMW designs over the years (Z3, E39 5er, E90 3er) that are [now] considered unquestionably BMW designs were penned by the designer Joji Nagashima, born and educated in Japan.

Joji Nagashima with his last well-known creation, the E90 3 Series Sedan:

Sketches of the E90 by Nagashima:

Below are the design patents for the Z3, E39, and E90, respectively, bearing his name:

It's the Euro Pedestrian Safety Laws that forced the change of cars hood lines.

They are just getting better at it over time.

Fashionably late.

He's almost always first to arrive and last to leave.

I honestly don't get all the Lexus comparisons. It looks a lot better than f30 and even e90 but not as timeless as e46 or e36.

It's modern and sleek in ways neither the e90 nor f30 ever were.

And it's nothing like any Lexus.

Interesting that BMW isn't putting the M340i front and center in these press debuts. It's almost like they themselves prefer the 330i with M Sport.
